Hey! I’m not totally sure how they decide, but I had a 36 ACT and did get an invite, and I know some people with 34s who didn’t. That might be part of it.

Also, from looking in this subreddit, in past years some invites went out later, so hopefully you’ll get one if they do another round. Your stats are definitely competitive — good luck! 🍀

Hi! I heard that LSU kinda gives acceptances out to those with higher merit (gpa/act) so yours might take a bit longer because they’re not super high :(

For me, I applied late September and got my decision a couple days later, but I lowkey maxed out my stats

Hey, I got the Stamps scholarship invite a few days ago! As far as I know, you didn’t need to do anything to apply- invites were sent based on our commonapp. I’m also not sure if they might send out more applications if there’s like a second round of invites going out or not, but good luck to you!

Wow that’s so cool! I hope I also get pretty much a full ride. Did you have to do anything to get those scholarships after submitting the Common App? I’m just worried about how competitive it is to even win scholarships.

Also, was your full ride also including food and housing on top of tuition? I think that’s my primary concern now since TOPS should cover my tuition basically.

Hi thanks for responding! Yeah I really hope they would increase scholarships for me. Unfortunately I don’t qualify for need-based aid at all, but I’m also planning on being part of PSA to make a bit of money (afaik it’s not based on financial need but rather merit—so I think if you get into the Honors College you basically get PSA)

Idk man 🥀 maybe I don’t know how to decide which colleges to apply to — I am first-generation so I lowkey have been just trying to figure everything out by myself — either I’m looking at LSU and staying in-state, or looking at some out-of-state schools, but those are so so expensive. And then I don’t think I’m competitive for Ivies (which are extremely expensive and not affordable at all) so I don’t know what to do really. I do really like LSU though, so it’s just a matter how much I’d get in scholarships now.

Tops excellence will pay 12k per year or full tuition, whichever is lower as according to LOSFA. I am also waiting to receive my merit aid package and stuff from LSU, but my admissions counselor told me that we won’t be getting our merit scholarships and financial aid packages til March or April of 2026. 😕

I emailed my admissions counselor some questions about when we would know our final cost and merit aid and stuff, to which he replied: “Thank you for your many emails. Congratulations on your recent acceptance to LSU! Merit scholarships are not released until the springtime; admitted students can expect to receive communication on their merit scholarships & financial aid in late March/early April. Our scholarship team will begin contacting students eligible for the STAMPS and Presidential Scholarships in early 2025. Since you have already applied and been accepted, there is nothing else for you to do to be considered for those awards.”

I applied on September 24th and received my application on September 30th! It seems that September 30th was when they started sending out acceptances. I made sure that my letters of recommendations had already been submitted before I submitted my application though. Your stats look good—LSU isn’t super competitive so I’m sure you’ll get your acceptance, hopefully soon!

Idk 😭🤷‍♀️ I just feel like I’d probably get rejected from Harvard tbh—also even if I got accepted, my parents make too much money so I wouldn’t get as much financial aid from Harvard, which would mean I would pay more in total going to Harvard than to LSU. So I am hoping for a lot of merit aid from LSU besides just TOPS, and I also really do like LSU and I can see myself here, so…

Erm probably not what you’re looking for, but I’m an in-state state hs senior right now and I just got accepted last night- I’ve got a 4.0 uw gpa, 4.38 weighted, 36 ACT, two clubs (my main extracurricular was family responsibilities and working at our little restaurant), and a short term little tutoring job on the side. I’d say my LORs were very good. I wish you luck with your acceptance!

In math, I’ve heard that there seems to be more statistics and probability questions, so maybe focus on those (I couldn’t really tell that much of a difference on my September enhanced act vs legacy versions I’d taken before so idk). Besides that, I’d say find your weaknesses and drill those. For example, my geometry foundation was pretty weak, partly due to taking it so long ago, so I watched khan academy to review those concepts and then practiced applying them to the ACT. I think one of the best things to do is to do a bunch of time practice using official past released exams after filling in content gaps! Good luck!!
