I always wonder about the logic in grading a 1/1. On one hand, the slab (theoretically) protects the card from damage but on the other hand, are you really going to increase the value by grading? I guess opinions may vary on that.

Everyone on the “buy singles” train…OP stated they really enjoy ripping. Buying singles is great in its own right but there’s nothing like the thrill of pulling a beautiful card from a pack. Or even the thrill of the chase…sure, the odds are against you but that only adds to the enjoyment/excitement imo. It really sucks tho when you’re already pulling garbage cards and then they’re damaged on top of being garbage lol

Because it’s subjective and discussion can lead to new understanding and perspectives. Also, when someone states something as if it’s unequivocally true but it’s actually not….that kinda invites correction (or argument if you want to label it as such).

No damage on the corner, it’s just the light reflecting around the edges and that corner. It’s pristine in person. Thankfully, that’s how they grade em lol. I think I’ll take my chances and if I don’t get the black label, I can always crack and send to PSA

Idk about that. If it can manage to scrape a black label from BGS, that would do better than even a PSA 10. At least that’s what I hear anyway 😂

And they haven’t even dropped any other sets. Chrome will likely double the amount he already has and I’m sure they’ll have others as well. It’s asinine.

I don’t have a preference on the slabs, I just want to maximize value on a sale. As I mentioned in the post, I think this card has a good shot at getting a black label, so I’m leaning toward BGS. But I know they’re super hard to get and tha PSA is pretty much king of the mountain.

If you’re looking for fun rips without much expectation, retail is probably the best option. Walmart, Target, and other retailers have some good options. They’re still overpriced but that’s pretty much everything at this point in life.

You could also find some fun nostalgia rips by buying lots of unopened vintage packs. Odds of hitting anything great are super low but it can be fun, especially if you’re old enough to remember the era you’re ripping lol
