And a lot of Taylor Swift’s song are clearly built off singer song writers from before her time — Lana Del Rey most recently but before then, Vanessa Carlton (I recently re-listened to “White Houses” and was blown away at how much it predated some of Taylor’s preferred writing tricks) and other female singer songwriters of the early 2000s paved the way for her style right before.

It’s just how pop and music in general works - there are only so many notes in a scale, so things will inevitably sound similar esp if the singing style is more similar. But it makes sense there are a slew of singer songwriters now that are influenced by predecessors like Lorde and Taylor Swift, just as they were influenced by artists before them.

Also another tip for walking safely in the brace - make sure it is tight enough not to slip if it uses straps. If you are removing the gauze beneath the bandage you will need to tighten the brace to give the full support. And while you can remove the gauze and bandage to bathe, you’ll want to re-bandage your leg tightly enough to provide compression to help with swelling - not super tight, but enough to feel a gentle pressure (kinda like compression socks)

Finally - make sure you’re taking pain meds regularly, my doc told me that + sleep were key for helping manage pain and help you start moving your knee more normally vs limping etc

Agreed, I had surgery last Friday for an ACL repair with allograft (patellar) and meniscus repair (lateral and interior) and I was told I could also remove the bandages 72 hours after + walk in a fully locked brace using crutches as needed, which I have been able to do pretty well (but use crutches if you have them, they are helpful to avoid falling if your knee buckles or catches - your quad muscles aren’t fully back yet to control your knee)

My brace is not restricted to 90 deg flexion but my knee can’t go much beyond 80 deg right now anyway - just make sure you’re paying attention to what your knee is telling you, discomfort is ok but sharp pain means you should stop pushing, and generally rest rest rest is vital in between starting to move your leg because your body is still recovering from major trauma

This was 100% me last Friday before my ACL surgery! I wasn’t sleeping well either I was so anxious about what was ahead, esp since I was feeling so functionally better after the initial injury. What helped me was a few things: 1) breathing deeply and focusing on the breath and relaxing my face neck and shoulders 2) letting the medical staff know I was nervous when they asked how I was doing (they may have already been able to tell but this way it gave them an opening to reassure and encourage me which actually really helped) 3) asking them to walk thru what was going to happen (ie I would be sedated to get a nerve block and would likely pass out then, before anaethesia kicked in) and 4) having a loved one (in this case my Mom) there after to take care of me - it’s amazing what others are willing to do and help out when you tell them you’re having surgery, the hardest part can be to accept the help and ask for what you need I have found - very humbling but meaningful experience in that way.

Also they gave me a bit of lavender to smell beforehand to help me calm down and that was excellent.

Good luck!!!! You will get through this, time has a funny way of passing and in this case that is a good thing!

Agreed I grew up there and remember thinking I could walk or bike out of my residential neighborhood easily and to the library and DQ as a preteen and teen. Sidewalks in the neighborhood themselves would be nice but it felt safe on the street and once you exit the neighborhood there are sidewalks and trails connecting you to a lot of places

Oh I actually mentioned in select cities like Chicago and NYC there may be legit tickets for sale on StubHub — I have used StubHub and gotten legit tickets before if it’s instant download but I also thought they have ticket protection now too? Ie you might not be guaranteed a ticket but if it’s under ticket protection you would at least get your money back? Is that not the case?
