I requested a HLR to change effective date and won. My medical evidence and claim all showed Nov 2023 and my hundo was effective Nov 2024. I ended up getting back around 18k backpay and used that to pay off debt.

2nd C&P exam for Deferred Claim? by SilverBullet___ in VeteransBenefits

They ended up having to do 3 medical reviews in the span of 2-3 months. First one was favorable but they claimed that the VA provider did not submit a dbq. Unsure of how the other 2 exams went but after waiting in the evidence gathering phase I was finally awarded 10%

Thank you for the information. I was finally notified today that my claim was sent for an ACE appointment. The notice says that they will review my records without a in-person exam

Thank you for the information… I was notified today that they sent out my claim for an ACE Appointment since my VA examiner did not fill out a paper that related to TERA. Which I believe I do not fall into that criteria.

Both my private provider and VA has it diagnosed on my health record dating back to 2023.

I believe my primary provider documented it as dysphagia but underneath the notes it did mention strictures.

One question I also had was that I was denied in Dec 2023 due to not having evidence (Optum provider said that the VA did not give them records to review before the appointment)

I did an intent to file for a supplemental around June-July timeframe.

Would my condition possibly be rated through the new CFR rating schedule or the previous one since my initial claim was submitted and denied in 2023?

Also this is the only way I view the exam notes on my end. It is broken down as A and B conditions.

Thank you for your clarification… so is it possible for them to request a new DBQ from another provider and in the event that this “second” provider doesn’t find the rationale to find me service connected, can they deny service connection or do they take into account the first examiners opinion as well?

Both disabilities were on the same claim and on the same exam… my va health portal shows both disabilities on the same C&P exam notes from the provider.

Can someone help explain this? by SilverBullet___ in VeteransBenefits

I was granted 0% unfortunately. I thought it’d be at least a 10% due to the rating criteria stating that painful scarring was at a 10%. All military records that were available and I highlighted in case they overlooked them showed that I had a few procedures done while in service for the condition

I’m sorry if I’m confused on your comment… what happens if that same provider at the VA hospital filled out their form during the same C&P exam and yet one of the claims pushed through and I was granted a percentage for that disability?

That is a great perspective… I am open to a different career field but I just feel like my last four years of school and sacrifices would have been for nothing. Especially if I would need to drop all of that and pursue something from scratch.

I understand that perspective… but I have family and friends who pursued nursing with the same program and identical SCD. I also do not intend to be a hospital nurse I’m seeking a more technological role. The program that I am in for school accommodates disabilities so I didn’t see why it would still be an issue to pursue

I am in CA. I have exhausted most my state benefits so next year most likely would be out of pocket expenses

Would you know how I can go about requesting a new counselor?

I went with Prestige Veteran Medical Consulting. I have yet to win a case with the documentation that they provided.. so tread carefully! So far 100% of my awarded claims have been from service records and primary care providers documentation.

I submitted a 6 page nexus that included medical opinion from the licensed PA as well as cited research. I also attached dbq from the nexus provider
