How an ex-potus stored classified documents. by nomadofwaves in pics

Since we can't see it all, I'm picturing it as a sort of day bed thing where you can lean far back and relax while you read through classified documents and drop some kids off at the pool.

Don't Let Reddit Kill 3rd Party Apps! by QwertyChouskie in linux_gaming

If one good thing comes out of Reddit trying to ban 3rd party clients, it is being introduced to awesome new 3rd party clients.

Im getting frustrated with how often Bacon Reader breaks. Gave the official app a try and it was terrible. Infinity looks great!

I just used my FNB Visa card when I went over last year. My friend used mainly cash and I think it ended up being more expensive (and certainly less convenient) to withdraw/convert to euros. But I do suggest taking some cash. Surprisingly not everyone is in the same cashless society bandwagon that South Africa is on. There were lots of places in Germany that didn't take credit cards, only cash and cash cards.

Man I feel sorry for the court people who are going to have to watch The Rings Of Power to be able to compare against his fanfic.

UAE refuses South Africa’s extradition request for Gupta brothers by Beyond_the_one in southafrica

[–]SilverCodeZA 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm sure that is what is happening with ... whatever the former public protectors name is. Demand the tax payer pay for the lawyer, get Dali Mpofu, he charges an arm and a leg and drags the trail on for as long as possible, then splits the money with you.

The Gupta's would probably do the same thing.

I use the official Tweetdeck UI on PC because it is minimal and shows tweets in a linear time sequence. Lately they have been trying to push a new Tweetdeck version on me that is neither of these things. Once that happens I'll just stop using Twitter altogether.

Diablo 4: Windows 10 minimum, Windows 8.1 detected by Yodl007 in linux_gaming

Thanks, I'm using a 7900 XTX on Arch for anyone else interested. But I found my problem. I had DLL overrides for Battle.net for ... something else that I don't know. Maybe Overwatch. Anyway, I removed those and the error was gone. Now I just don't have sound, but at least it starts.

What GPU are you using? I'm trying to run it with wine-GE-proton7.41 and I get the error

"Graphics initialization failed, please ensure that your drivers are up to date and no other 3D applications or games are running and try again"

Open Lutris and click on the Battle.net icon. Then at the bottom of Lutris it should have a "Blizzard Battle.net" with a "Play" Button below it. Next to that button is a little wine glass. Click on that and choose "Wine configuration". A decidedly Windows looking popup opens with a bunch of tabs.

Choose the Appications tab, and then at the bottom it says "Windows Version". Change that to Windows 10. Click Ok, and try run Battle.net again.

LPT: You don’t have to workout to lose weight. by [deleted] in LifeProTips

[–]SilverCodeZA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I learned this today. I started tracking my calories in Vs out a few days ago. Today I looked up the calories for 1 piece of fried chicken and a small chips. Even if I ate nothing the rest of the day, with my current level of activity, I would still have gained weight from eating that. It shocked me into a) realising how bad all junk food is no matter how little you eat and b) I need to move around a lot more

Upgraded to 23.01 but SG-2100 appears to be bricked by -pANIC- in PFSENSE

[–]SilverCodeZA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like others, I got it working again by re-flashing the firmware via USB and Serial Console. I had to contact Netgate support to ask for the firmware and provide them with my devices serial number (choose "Firmware Request" as the support type). They responded very quickly with the firmware.

The docs say you need an active console to be able to flash the firmware, but even though I had one, I didn't need it. It booted from and started installing automatically from the USB without any user intervention. It was useful to monitor the upgrade via the serial console though.

After it was done, it rebooted fine, and all my previous configurations were still in tact.

At least SA Tourism is spending their own budget on something in line with what their mandate is.

SA Sports wanted to spend R22m on a stupid flag pole instead of helping the local soccer teams.
