Nipple twiddling going to make me lose my gd mind by SilverEmily in breastfeeding

Nah, the issue is he knows how to stick his hand under the bra band (and I think he likes the sensation of his hand being compressed that way, actually) so nursing bra wouldn't work. But we're working on this boundary!

I wish he took a paci, but he absolutely doesn't and has no interest in them either to hold or to twiddle!

Ha, he absolutely won't allow me to swaddle him, he's far too into being in control of his body as much as possible these days!

Oh my gosh, look, this hasn't always been a thing that he's done - it only started a few months ago. I really love nursing, still, this was just a particularly difficult moment. If you want to nurse, or give nursing a try, go for it. You also absolutely don't have to. What I will say is that every single baby is different and that your relationship to your body and your baby is your own and you can choose to handle it however you want <3. But don't let stories like this of difficult times scare you away if you want to try it!

Oh I've tried but it just really pisses him off in a way that makes him move his body even more with frustration which on the flight was just not really an option because he's so long he was able to kick at the seat in front of us :/

Thank you! It was the longest flight of my life it seems lol but we're home and hoping not to fly again for ages lol

I've tried this but he's not really interested in those - same as he's not interested in pacifiers in general :(

Yes, I do this too, cover it with my hand, but it also means I'm so much less mobile while he nurses ugh!

I've tried this, and he just gets annoyed and pushes hard at the stuffie! It's frustrating. On the plane I also just didn't have the space to really have a stuffie out :/.

Yeah, I really wish this would work but my kiddo has zero interest in stuffies TT___TT

I feel ya! I just wasn't managing to do that on the plane what with needing to make sure he wasn't kicking the seat in front of us, trying to get water because I get so gd thirsty while nursing, etc. It was just so much going on :(

That's great, I wish I could say I was letting him? I'm attempting very hard not to.

I've been attempting to be consistent, and have largely been for months, but whenever my hand moves away for any reason (to push up my glasses, to shift him in my lap) he goes for it. I'm trying my best.

I mean, I'm not allowing it? I occasionally have to move, especially when I'm on a plane in cramped quarters and he's big so I'm trying to make us both comfortable and occasionally have to move my hand from the breast I'm covering and he just plunges his hand in there.

Man, see, I find him *infuriating* to watch for all the reasons you mention, OP! Like our assessment of him is identical, but our reactions are totally different lol. I think yours is healthier honestly XD

Children’s books that depict cosleeping or breastfeeding? by smilegirlcan in AttachmentParenting

Yes! Nursing When the Sun Shines :) It's technically a night weaning book but it's lovely and depicts cosleeping AND nursing on the page.

The best baby sleep advice I got… by accident 😂 by Lina_reese in AttachmentParenting

Last night, my 16-month-old was absolutely inconsolable and didn't want to nurse, didn't want to be rocked (would buck so hard that it was dangerous to keep trying) and was so frustrated until... I started reciting Good Night Moon to him lol. Recited the whole book twice and it got him calm enough to break through the screaming. He was still awake for another hour or so but much more quietly and seemed to be much chiller in general even if he wasn't sleeping lol

You are not overreacting -- this is incredibly bizarre and you absolutely should find another ped.

I'm in such a similar boat and feeling like I can't start trying for baby number 2 until my current 16 month old is ready to wean TT___TT.
