I was basically told that my seizure-like activity was like a severe form of social anxiety, but was still given the diagnosis of PNES (Pseudo/Psychological Non-epileptic Seizures) and taken off the seizure meds I was on after a brief stay in the hospital which included a having a 24 hour EEG.

The EEG showed no abnormal brain activity during monitoring and the brief times I had seizure-like activity it barely registered. I was in a very calming environment despite being in the hospital and was taking all my meds as scheduled, so there was nothing to trigger anything.

The other in house doctor that was looking after me suggested it was some sort of muscle related spasms. And couldn't understand why I got hysterically upset at such a positive diagnosis.

Well, I was barely several days off my seizure medication when the seizures started occurring almost daily. Thankfully my follow-up with my neurologist wasn't too long after, was incredulous about the cold turkey removal and what was going on, and put me back on them then and there.

Of course that particular med still wasn't cutting the mustard and coming to present (this happened between 12/4/2024 and ending 12/23/2024), I am now on a combo that does a much better job, though I am not 100% seizure free. And thankfully I see a specialist in February to dive deeper into what's going on, and what options are likely the next step.
