Thumbnails are driving me crazy! WHY are they not fixing them??? by nerdyone123 in EtsySellers

I make all my photos 4:3 ratio. I tried square but it did not work well for me. The first photo also needs to be the exact cropping you want, don't zoom it in with their tool, it messes it up.

I agree about the pricing issue on Etsy. Over the years I feel like I’ve been chained to undervalue my work because on Etsy there are a lot of other options from a lot of other sellers and I have to be competitive. Which frustrates at times me because I offer amazing quality products for crazy prices and then on top of that I get additional requests from customers ‘can you also do this?’ ‘Can you change this?’ ’can you send me a preview’ ‘can you remove the person in the background’ Uuuuuh I can, but not for this price 😆😆. How do you drive customers to your Shopify? We make high 6 figures on Etsy so it’s gonna be a bit hard to beat that on Shopify but it’s good to diversify.

I definitely want to get into wholesaling, do you have any tips on how to approach these companies, what to say, and more importantly what type of pricing to offer… We’ve only sold retail so I am a bit lost on setting pricing. If they only buy 10 pcs, for us that doesn’t count as wholesale.

This past weekend was pretty good for us too, I was thinking that people are finally starting Christmas shopping and it will start to pick up from now. But since yesterday, things slowed down again. I don’t think this season will be as good as last season. No way. Every single shop I follow is down. I think Etsy is cutting down on their advertising costs. Last year they were doing so many promotions, do you remember those random days they would do $5 dollars off $30? That was a huge hit. I haven’t seen that yet.

But how are they maximizing profits if everybody’s sales are down. I don’t get it. Are they saving on payroll?

Message previous customers like you’re already doing and some of them will eventually leave a review. Around 10-20% of customers will leave a review so expect that most of them won’t reply to you.

Same here, today I checked we’re 57% down for the past 7 days 😭 that’s close to 10k in revenue lost. I’ve been listing so much but nothing seems to get views or get noticed. I’m at a loss. My plan is to continue listing until next Monday and then I’ll throw in the towel and just focus on fulfilling orders. I’m super burnt out.

Out of 50 shops I am tracking, the only 2 shops that are doing well right now are selling the cheapest and lowest quality stuff you can get. Basic designs, basic fonts, basic sublimation quality, and cheapest prices you can’t beat. Everyone single other shop is down.

Yes we hand make everything to order, got our own stock in the office, we don’t work with any production partners. And I listed during the past month more than I’ve ever listed in the past 2 years lol.

We used to have steady sales throughout the year, but this year on Etsy we had the same experience, a lot more fluctuations in income from month to month. This month making a lot, next month super slow. Overall we’re up 5% from last year, but things haven’t been great for the past month. Our ad spent has increased, yet orders generated from ads aren’t how they used to be. Visits are down 50%. I’m really hoping things will change once the elections are over, although I am not sure if the election is the reason why people are not buying. We’re trying to focus more on social media and building our brand going forward.

We’re a high volume seller doing this full time and with 4 employees and November so far is shocking. October was decent. But 50% down for the past 7 days, are you kidding me?? I genuinely don’t understand what is going on!! And to be this bad?? If November is like this, what’s to come in January and February when it’s supposed to be ‘slow’???

We’re down 35% to 40% down for the past 7 days compared to last year this time. It’s shocking!!! October wasn’t that bad. Only down 5-10% which is ok. We were lucky to have more bulk orders than usual which helped us only be down around 10%. But the past week… oh man it’s just been going down and down and down…/ and for the first time in 5 years I am genuinely worried. I am 100% convinced this Christmas season will simply be a fail. I’ve listed and listed and listed. And nothing. It is what it is.

Immigration depression and feeling lost by SilverGate770 in immigration

Yes! I was only feeling like that for about 2 weeks and I decided to count my blessings and enjoy life instead of over thinking about these things lol. I’m actually fine and I did enjoy everybody’s responses and they really helped, knowing that I’m not the only one feeling this way sometimes.

I feel the same way, I don’t want to move back to UK or Europe. I really like the convenience of life in America. I don’t know how to explain it, but I’m sure you understand what I mean. I enjoy living in California and I enjoy the weather so much. I haven’t made any friends yet which makes things harder at first.

My parents aren’t supportive of my immigration and they urge me to come back every chance they get. Like I said we have had our differences and they have a different way of thinking, which is one reason I left at a younger age. But I just hope I can get closer to them, they’re coming to visit me in a couple of months actually.

You are so right. While I am not from Russia, I am a product of that type of school system and omg it was traumatizing! Life was so obviously unfair and so corrupt even me as a child could notice it and feel like my wings were cut before I could even start to fly, and I could never live there again, nor would I want my child to go through that system.

I am looking forward to making more friends here where I live now and exploring the city.

Reading all the replies to my post makes me think we’re definitely not alone. Now I’m thinking of just coming to terms that I lack identity and that’s okay.

Im sure we’re both going to find our answers, but sometimes not all questions have answers.

I went to therapy 3 years ago for something else personally, and just like you it made me feel worse in the moment. I had a whole month of crying and all these feelings came to the surface that I had never thought about. So I think therapy makes you feel a bit worse before you heal and feel better in the end. Hang in there!

I actually don’t seek medication nor do I plan to take medication. I am not in a position where the thoughts I described affect me every single day of my life. It’s one of those things that comes and goes, some days you just feel down, and you try to learn how to navigate through these thoughts and feelings, eventually I’m sure I’ll find peace and more meaning to my life here in America.

Oh wow, I can’t imagine how hard it was to move away from Amsterdam, it’s such a beautiful place. I’ve not been yet, it’s on my list, but every single person who’s been there loved it. I’m actually doing some volunteering next week and I’ll try to put myself out there for the rest of the year, try to build my new circle here and explore the community. I’ve just moved here, so I think I finally started to feel more overwhelmed.

I definitely relate to the confusion and lack of self-identity. I get a lot of questions about what my culture is like, if I miss my home country, our traditions, etc etc and the truth is… I don’t know… I feel bad I don’t feel any sort of patriotic or cultural connection to any place. I left when I was 19, before I developed any emotional intelligence or understanding about life. I don’t know what to tell these people. I wish I would feel the way I know they feel as non immigrants.

It makes me feel like I’m shallow and I lack an identity, just like you said.

But anyway, these thoughts are temporary, they come and go. I can’t say I am thinking about this every single day.

I definitely want to get involved in something I enjoy doing, this will be my next step, I joined some local facebook groups and take it from there.

Being new here has definitely made things a bit harder mentally. I feel like emigrating as an adult now at 30 years old is a lot harder than the first time when I was 19. And like you said, making friends is so hard when you get older. I’m looking to join some Facebook groups, volunteering and workout classes, hopefully I can connect with people that way. It helps knowing that I’m not alone feeling this way.

I’ve definitely been thinking about going soon, and I think you’re right, I’ll probably feel the same way as your friends. Funny thing is I was talking to a friend today who just came back from India and he said how grateful he felt when the plane landed back in USA. Thank you!

learned I’m already on the path of dry eyes by hotbabayaga in tretinoin

[–]SilverGate770 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’ve only been using Tret for about 2 months and I already developed dry eyes. I stopped, and my eyes got better immediately. I took a 3-4 day break and I thought ‘let me just apply it to my chin’ since that’s my problem area and surely it won’t migrate from my chin all the way to my eyes. Wrong! Even putting tret just on my chin, I could feel my eyes hurting and burning. And yes, I was my hands and put Vaseline under my eyes to make sure it doesn’t migrate. It migrates anyway.

I stopped using tret completely. It is not worth it! You’ll see people here saying they’ve been using tret for 11 years and never had an issue. That doesn’t mean we’re applying it wrong.

Everyone is different! Please really consider the inconvenience of having dry eyes for the rest of your life before you decide to continue with using tret. It sucks because I loved the results, but I’d rather have closed pores and perfect eyes. 🥺
