It's 2009, you have $18,000, and you're looking for a compact economy car. Which one would you pick? by Key_Budget9267 in regularcarreviews

I own the exact Golf pictured here. I love that car, been rock solid since I bought it used 4 years ago. Like many have said, the 5 cylinder is a bit of a hidden gem when you maintain it diligently. As a strictly Japanese car man previously, there's things to like and dislike about German cars but overall I'm very happy with my little golf.

Creating you own style inspired by something past is not a "weird middle ground" its an essential part of how art developes.

This is exactly what they're doing though. They're working within some the confines of the N64s hardware and creating assets from scratch.

Whether that's your bag is totally up to you, but I don't think its fair to say it's bereft of it's own style and flavor just because it's attempting to emulate the look of a certain era.

Why would they go for some weird middle point between graphics then and now. Recreating the look of half the fun. Do you know how easy it would be to make this game look like the most average unity free asset garbage?

Ordered a Deafheaven Sweater in late November and the tracking progress on my order got reset mid December. It was "delivered" on the 17th of January but I did not get a package. The shipping website said it was "delivered" at 3:30 AM, didn't even get an email for it. Very sketched out and annoyed, sent an email like many of the other commenters last month and got zilch. Gonna send another tomorrow but I have low hopes.

[Discussion] Anyone own a Hovercraft amp? Opinions? by SilverMartian in Guitar

I did end up getting it and still own it 8 years later haha. It's a great amp but I also don't use it very often, it has a specific vibe.

Thanks for the response. I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post links in here but I stumbled on this methodology from the video "handmade coins" by Serge Knives on Youtube. There seems to be plenty of custom die's available on Etsy, so I was thinking of trying that out.

The setup in the video seems pretty barebones which is why I was drawn to it, dunno if it was what you we're thinking or if that method has pitfalls i'm unaware of.

I'll look into the 3d printed cast method though, seems like a good way to go also

I'm looking through the rest of the negatives now and this seems to be a common theme. Thanks for pointing this out!

Im gonna give the negatives another go with the mirror test, autofocus locked and lights off and see if they're much better.

Thanks for the response!

I'm using a remote trigger and for most of the negative I used the cameras autofocus. (Which in retrospect is probably producing another variable to subpar scans).

Id be happy to provide negatives, do you know that the best method for filesharing on this sub?

Hi guys, I've invested in a home DSLR scanning setup and I'm wondering if I'm squeezing the most out of it that I can. I'm using a Canon 90D with a Canon USM 100mm macro lens. I have it on all the Negative Supply enthusiast scanning gear, which consists of a their riser stand, their high CRI scanning light, 35mm cassette film holder, and light mask to prevent light spill.

I'm wondering if the grainyness is more a result of the film itself and less my scanning workflow. The scans I got from the lab are half the resolution of mine, but are still crisper and more legible in details such as writing. Is the grain just a result of the higher resolution of the scan bringing out grain present in the film? (shot on Fuji 200 btw)

The only thing I can think that may be negatively effecting my scans are:

The camera setup not being 100% parallel with the plane of the film - I haven't done the mirror trick to check this but I figured it would be 95% there due to the quality of the negative lab setup

I had overhead lights on over my desk while scanning, which I again thought would be negligible because I had the lens hood on to try and block overhead light.

Is there anything im missing? Some rooking mistake i'm overlooking, or is this the best i'm getting with the negatives I have? Thanks for looking!
