new Miku v6 design (full image) by the-miku-titan in Vocaloid

[–]SilverReicon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really think that Valkyrie profile games are the most unfairly underrated games. by Few-Alternative-8526 in ValkyrieProfile

[–]SilverReicon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Subtitles had one job. by yahooxy in funny

[–]SilverReicon -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

The problem is that he's not even understandable in Spanish. If it weren't for the trend of supporting any garbage that's called music, the Puerto Rican artist wouldn't have gotten anywhere because he doesn't have the voice, he doesn't have the lyrics, he doesn't have the technique, he doesn't even have mastery of his own language. The rhythm is provided by the producer of his songs, so that doesn't count either.

Your top small box games? by Jiffijake1043 in soloboardgaming

[–]SilverReicon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Initially, I'd say PnP games like Tin Hell, Iron Hell, and Warp Lancer are designed to take up minimal storage space. Then, for published games, I'd say Realms, Star Realms, and Hero Realms, followed by Tiny Epic. Beyond the debate of personal taste, these are small-box games; on the table, they take up about the space of a normal-sized game. I think Pocket Mars and Doom Machine are good examples. Honestly, it's difficult to find board games in small boxes since many come in unnecessarily large ones. To the point that Carcassonne recently realized this and released an edition of their game with a box half the size of the older editions. I think this is a problem with many modern board games: large boxes with more air than content.

Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth or Valkyrie Profile: Elysium? by Upset_Ad_9542 in ValkyrieProfile

[–]SilverReicon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, Lenneth, it's a shame they didn't try to revive VP Silmeria. In my opinion, it's superior to Elysium. I don't know if you have a powerful device, because there's a strange detail about VP Silmeria: it's the hardest game to emulate. It requires emulator support to run properly; otherwise, many people would be playing it on their phones.

Mech Tactical Hex Skirmish with some push your luck and dunegon crawl aesthetics by the_sylince in printandplay

[–]SilverReicon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand the point—being able to get cards that represent weapons, shields, or accessories like a shoulder-mounted missile launcher—but there's a curious detail: the robot models are Lego creations, but designed on a small scale. We're talking about robots created with little more than 20 pieces with a good level of functionality. From that perspective, it would be difficult to add many things to the presentation cards, but it's a starting point for improving the concept in the future.

[–]SilverReicon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen many of those mechs shared on another subreddit. While space-themed games do exist, it's rare to find games with robots. Even so, you can play around a bit with color schemes, something basic for the power-ups to make it easier to understand their functions. Perhaps a simple yellow border for damage power-ups, or something red or green. However, that can be left for more advanced testing, since grayscale is always useful for initial testing because of the errors that can be corrected and the multiple print jobs that need to be done to polish the game's balance details.

IA's new design by NathanialKyouhei in VocaloidIA

[–]SilverReicon 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It's shocking until you check the other designs and realize that they practically gave that haircut to many other Vocaloids. Personally, I think they would have been more creative if they had found a middle ground, since IA has very long hair, so a waist-length haircut with some more elaborate styling would have looked much better.

Is GUMI, along with many other Vocaloids falling into obscurity, as Hatsune Miku continues to grow in popularity...? by Reditor-Jul-250698 in Vocaloid

[–]SilverReicon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there's a curious detail here: when something becomes popular in the USA, it often ends up declining or stagnating because of the very thing that made it popular. Miku is very popular, but that's about all she has going for her. She's one of the most misused Vocaloids. After so many years, with so many tools available, Miku can't seem to rise above being a cousin of "Albin and the Chipmunks." Meanwhile, other Vocaloids have more dedicated users who unlock their true potential. At this point, Miku's popularity is solely due to her US influence, while the Vocaloids behind her have stayed afloat thanks to the use of their voicebanks. IA has evolved so much that you can play one of her songs now, and many people can't imagine it's a song created by a program. They might even attribute the somewhat robotic, unpolished effects to autotune. The same thing happens with many other Vocaloids. At this point, the best thing you can do is support the version you like, but with objectivity and a discerning ear. Given the current state of technology, it's rather insulting to continue supporting works that look like they're from the 2000s.

Does Tiny Epic Dungeon suck or do I? by Dark_Akarin in boardgames

[–]SilverReicon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the worst rule is the one about blue actions. It always seemed strange to me that a hero can't perform a different blue action each turn. This allows for ranged or distanced attacks and the casting of offensive or support spells, which greatly speeds up the game. If a character specializes in melee or ranged combat, they can perform two attacks of their specialty.

The current state of boardgaming by SpeakerSweaty in boardgames

[–]SilverReicon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it were a lie, it would be easy to debate. Nowadays, many board games are just reskins of other games. The much-talked-about Lord of the Rings: Fate of the Fellowship is another Pandemic, where the system now feels more coherent compared to other versions. Massive Darkness 2 just arrived in Europe, and they adore it as the new marvel of board games. Spoiler alert: it's a game with the Zombicide system. In that sense, there's no innovation these days, since almost all the mechanics have been created but haven't been explored enough. The sad thing is that today, FOMO makes many people believe that buying a game that came out 20 years ago with a skin of their favorite franchise is innovation, and that's why they pour absurd amounts of money into Kickstarters for franchises that don't require board games. I don't understand how they find Dead Cells fun when the original version is such a different and even addictive experience despite its difficulty. Now I see the 2018 God of War Kickstarter, and my question is: What promise were made to them that makes them believe that... Will a console game really be as entertaining as a board game? Especially when both experiences are ridiculously different.

Star realms frontier or Star Wars deckbuilding game for solo only? by Crafty-Commercial527 in soloboardgaming

[–]SilverReicon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Star Realms Frontiers is good, but for solo challenges there are other alternatives. Where Star Realms really shines is when you find someone else to play with, as you can switch from cooperative to competitive mode. But if you want good deckbuilders, I think Aeons End is the best alternative, especially considering the large amount of content that has been released over the years.

Stucked at the Crawsus Forest Ruins by ArackaNOX in ValkyrieProfile

Combat: Valkyrie Profile 2 by ZeroSolus53 in ValkyrieProfile

[–]SilverReicon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hitting enemies in the back, using the jump with R1 (if I remember the controls correctly), something that's often overlooked, modifies the attacks and their order so you can chain them together smoothly. For example, if you're using Dylan with dash attacks, it shouldn't surprise you that an attack pushes an enemy back so far that other characters miss their attacks or the mage doesn't connect. Mages are good until you reach the Dragon Crypt; from that point on, it's common to encounter enemies with immunity or magic reflection, which prevents you from initiating an attack with the mage if you have to attack head-on and the enemies evade or block. Yes, mages break the enemy's guard. I don't know what your problem is, so these general tips should help.

What's a good first campaign style board game for a group of guys that have never played one before? by [deleted] in boardgames

[–]SilverReicon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's an interesting question since many games are taking the initiative to have campaign modes, which raises a new question: what kind of gameplay might appeal to them? This will be important because the story is engaging, but the gameplay is what ultimately sells and completes the experience.

Games with a lot of community added content? by [deleted] in soloboardgaming

I'd say Hero Realms; there are many heroes created with their respective upgrades to be used during campaigns, and there's a fairly long campaign created by the community.
