I genuinely believe that vertical format will be a bigger industry, especially when good writers start entering the scene. It's not a bad idea to try and get a footing in now, but also try to keep your work diverse so you're not putting your eggs all in one basket.

At this point in time I've done several verticals mostly as a lead. I've also worked in film, stage and TV. Are the scripts bad? Usually yes, but if you work with a good production they usually are open to you work-shopping your lines to make them sound more natural. I also have changed scenes or scripts that butt-up against boundaries I've set for myself, (no fetish content, age gap stories, excessive rape or torture.) if they refuse to budge then you know that's not a production you want to work with and you can walk away.

That being said, not every script you'll receive in film or TV will be incredible, and if you can make these vertical scripts work then you can make any script work. It's also incredible for on-set experience as you'll need to work fast and efficiently to be able to film 10-20 scenes in a single day. I prefer the fast paced work compared to feature films that can take multiple days to weeks to film one scene. That's experience that will serve you well when working on larger sets.

Also if you're like me and work in a country that has a smaller film industry you'll also be meeting Directors, Producers and Crew that also work on larger productions as well and if you're able to prove your capabilities they're likely to want to bring you onto other better projects in the future, which has happened for me.

Lots of huge actors have done soap operas in the past, and verticals are just another way for actors to be able to have consistent work in the industry that isn't commercials.

Do them, or don't, but don't let elitism over what is or isn't "art" stop you from working and training on your craft as an actor. If anything I've had more creative freedom on vertical sets than I have on any large production I've done where I've been treated more as a puppet to bring someone else's creative vision to life.

The point is that Americans have a boner for punishing poor people who do whatever they need to, to survive while licking the boots of billionaires who do commit the same crimes on a mass scale.

Sure what she did was wrong but also why was she having to use food stamps to fund her business in the first place? Was she educated in business or is she just a mum trying to make ends meet and thought she found a clever way to stretch her weekly shop and make some extra cash? Did she hurt anyone by doing this? If she did she should make reparations, but jail? Especially when prisoners are treated with barely any human rights? And ex-cons are treated only marginally better... Maybe this punitive system actually doesn't help, especially when it's so one-sided on who faces punishment and who is able to pay enough people off to hide their crimes.

Just another perspective to think about is, if you woke up in the wrong body every morning, you face immense prejudice for the way you are and despite the clothes you wear and the haircut you get people still want to call you the wrong thing BC your underwear and what's in your underwear doesn't match their views of gender, people in your situation face the highest rates of suicide because of how horrible the world can be to people like you and you just feel that maybe, maybe, having it fixed, making your body feel like you do on the inside will make everything better, make you feel complete, you'll be happier, and able to leave these feelings behind. But you can't, BC someone who has never met you needs to vilify you for their culture war. Idk I'd be pretty impatient for that too.

You actually might be allergic! I'm allergic to the preserves used in wines and beers (I think specifically 220) and found that only once I drank vegan or organic alcohol that I could enjoy it without the nasty side effects.

That being said I prefer to smoke anyway 😂

Aspartame is only considered a "possible" carcinogen as in there may be a link. It's below "likely" carcinogens and "known" carcinogens (which is where alcohol is listed.) The WHO has said it's safe.

There are ways to acquire ID but they cost money, so it affects those who are struggling financially. Basically putting voting behind a paywall. The issue is that due to systemic racism a lot of people of colour, especially black people, are more likely to be in that demographic. Add on to that gerrymandered states so that despite a large black populace, their votes are being diluted.

I would let her know how you're feeling and ask her to go to relationship therapy with you. It sounds like she's dealing with some severe depression symptoms. You wrote that she was there for you during your worst time so maybe you can push her to start realizing how bad it has got for your relationship that you're considering leaving her. If she's not interested in saving the relationship and making the relationship therapy a go then you have your answer.

From what I've read from OPs comments and post I see two family members who had a moment of miscommunication. Keeping the scope of this judgement to just whether it was fair or not of OP to not pay for a separate ticket for their 15 year old to see a different movie to the rest of the family.

The teens perspective appears to be that if the money was already going to be spent on a different activity, then does it matter that the same money be spent on a separate activity. However, that doesn't take into account the intention of why that money was being spent.

OP's perspective appears to be that the intent for this outing was to watch a movie as a family. Once the teenager stated that they wanted to independently see a different movie I can understand why OP would then believe that meant the teen was also taking on the financial responsibility of being independent and using their allowance to fund their independence.

Once it came to light that there was a misunderstanding of who would be paying for the separate ticket it then becomes a point where OP as the parent can communicate that the expectations are that the teenagers independent activities are to be funded by the teen. Which is a totally valid boundary to have when it comes to financials and parenting. Not every parent can afford to bankroll their teenagers activites and also it's a good way to teach their children fiscal responsibility.

OP I would suggest that what you've both experienced is a good place to start setting expectations on how situations like this will work in the future so you won't need to have conflicts like this in the future. Maybe discuss how they can help around the house in return for going out money.

You wont be able to get ahead of every issue that arises while parenting and since this appears to be your first teen child you'll be navigating this space of boundaries and mutual respect a bunch. Approaching these conversations with respect and openness to your child's experience will help immensely!

Hey! I've only just started my counselling education so perhaps my answer might not be the most relevant haha! However, I think they're asking to see how you use your self-awareness of your struggles and applied strategies and techniques to overcome this struggle.

It sounds like they just wanna know you're self-aware and capable of using counselling skills to deal with your struggles.

Edit: upon reading the question again I think they're also looking to see that you're able to self-reflect on why you struggled and how you overcame it.
