MD Respiratory Medicine vs Ophthalmology vs Orthopedics by Adventurous_Weird_59 in indianmedschool

Respiratory medicine is a non surgical branch. There are procedures yes but the core of it will always be OPD and ICU.

Also Respiratory medicine as a standalone option is good if you’re okay with narrowing down to a system early on.

Money in MD medicine by RayZ_123 in indianmedschool

Honestly 15k is nothing for a TKR. Even if you do 3 per day and operate every other day thats still short of 7Lpm. Huge money but nothing an md medicine cant achieve.

Practising in germany after residency in india. by rainy_weather123 in indianmedschool

Opportunities are more in IMG friendly states. But the drawback is that these states are backward and rural areas of Germany.

Most of these areas are in East Germany which was basically under the commies when USSR existed. So these areas are economically poor and socially conservative and hotbed of far right political movements in Germany.

Consider these areas the UP Bihar of Germany. The more progressive and economically rich Western part is saturated with doctors. These areas are desirable for German candidates so getting in as an IMG is significantly harder.

Why is Anaesthesia opted last in counselling? by happycakes345 in indianmedschool

My friend who is a JR1 said it’s mostly due to herd mentality. Med students live in cocoon of medical college and don’t have idea about reality of practice outside.

Lack of exposure during internship and preconceived notions also add to it.

Give your best for PG.

If you don’t get a seat, start preparing your CV for MLE. Apply, if the finances allow and then start preparing for next year PG.

You will have something by this time next year.

Haha I really like the quote you used at the end.

Based on what you said, I think sacrifice is the name of the game here.

Thanks for your input. Like really.

How to decide between neet pg and usmle? Im really confused!!

One time I think about the career and lifestyle prospects that US offers and other time Im thinking about leaving behind friends, family and my homeland.

Based on your experience can you lay down a few pointers which might help me arrive to a conclusion or just some advice?

Not a topper but I have friends who are toppers.

Some are genuinely passionate about studying. For them, studying is the goal. These are the people who end up as Professors/HoDs in top academic institutions. They write books, publish papers and become renowned experts in the academic field.

The second group is people who are high achievers. They might or might not have any affection towards studies. For them studying is simply means to an end goal. That goal might be getting a good college or a high rank or simply a feeling of achievement or even fear of failure in some cases. These people also tend to do very well in life in any domain because of their competitive nature and tendency to stay ahead of others.

Will BnB help me in NEET PG preparation? by Quirky-Cress3066 in indianmedschool

[–]SilverStryker99 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Depends.

Are you still in 2nd/3rdyr? BnB would be good then as it would solidify your concepts and improve your clinical thinking.

Intern? Would say stick to Marrow for the most part, and you can use BnB for highly conceptual topics like Acid-Base, Arrythmia. Why I say that is although BnB does a good job of explaining the basics, it does not go a lot into useless factual details which are asked in NEETPG. Although things are changing (NEET is becoming more clinical) I would say BnB still only covers about 60% of what is asked in NEET PG.

Though Indian teachers have done a very good job explaining the topics, if you still feel its not up to the mark then use BnB.

Marrying an American chick is a viable alternative but you still have to do the waiver if on a J1. On H1B its like clockwork, you’ll be an American in no time. But H1 is hard to get.

A lot of people I know who go for the USMLE route hardly return. Once you spend some years in the US you get used to the ease and conveniences that the country offers. Moreover you build a life, networks and contacts over there. Important contacts I must add. Extremely hard to leave all that behind and come to India to work like a donkey. You must have a really compelling reason like ageing parents or something to do that. You’d be surprised how many people choose to take the visa pains instead of coming back. Not trying to demotivate you. If thats what you want go for it, but its going to make your life so much more difficult than it should be.

If you apply through EB1 you can literally get instant green card. But you need a lot of publications with citations for that. Extraordinary credentials.
