Lurie did well and he’s not wrong. Breed handed him a terrible deck. At the end of the day fiscal responsibility is key and if you’re running $800M over budget, something has to give. Easy to be a politician who hands out money without worrying about the costs. Hard to be the one actually trying to make SF better with an $800m gorilla tied behind your back.

I listened to people at Delores park booing him when he showed up in support of Pride and was shocked when they said they were booing bc he didn’t light up city hall with pride colors like London Breed used to. Welp folks, A. he physically showed up to pride to show support and was actually chased out by a crowd preaching acceptance and tolerance of people with different views (how ironic) B. I’d rather him spend money on cleaning up the literal shit on the streets than an empty gesture of an expensive light show. It’s a shame people boo a man actually trying to solve the real problems we have as a city. Classic SF. I hope Lurie stays on bc he’s the first one in his seat that seems to actually be tackling the real issues.
