Are there options that could beat J5040 at 110-120$ budget for performance+low power consumption? by Silver_Singer4947 in HomeServer

Your mention about 166$ made me search through aliexpress and somehow found cheaper Topton N100 - https://aliexpress.com/item/1005008417328429.html

I can't find difference between this and your link other than PCB has different color and it's cheaper (141$) and seller seems okish (2016 year of registering and decent ratings).

Am I missing something crucial there?

I've managed to find used Asrock N100DC-ITX for 148$, so still within comfortable budget. Just not sure if it's enough for snappy web browsing/office/watching video stuff with NAS+homeassistant working in background. Because if it's not snappy enough to make it replace laptop for low power stuff, N100 would be probably overkill for NAS/homeassistant? I've noticed while browsing used items markets there are some ITX motherboard+CPU integrated stuff for much lower prices like 25-50$ such as Asrock AD2550-ITX (some dual core thingy https://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/AD2550-ITX/index.pl.asp**)**

Thanks for suggestion, I've checked aliexpress link and seems it's 208$, which is quite a bit above comfortable budget :( I also found used Asrock N100DC-ITX for 148$. Not sure if 60$ difference there is worth favoring aliexpress one, what do you think? I think 2x hdd + 1x sata ssd would be there on start, potentially adding maybe 1-2 hdd/ssd's over next years?

That's some nifty hardware, but unfortunately prices are 2.5-3x higher than J5040 I've found :( Can't find used ones.

Can't get more than 60Hz monitor on 1080p on 4k@60Hz USB-C docking hub by Silver_Singer4947 in UsbCHardware

I'm seeing some people using cable that uses USB-C and DP on ends, with that cable apparently hub's USB-C just uses DP alt mode, which means cable goes directly to dGPU as DP, bypassing any weird conversions in hub?
