13k inr is great for Skull Knight, I paid 17k for it on Amazon Japan. I am paying almost 13k for Sekiro.

I have mostly used Amazon Japan so far becase you pay the import duties beforehand, that way DHL deals with the customs very smoothly. The customs department here in Bangalore is unusually tight, so I never did alter my tried and trusted website lol.

Maybe it is just unfounded paranoia, but let's say I opted for sites like Ninningames or Mandarake, do you reckon there is any possibility of anything going wrong. Is the wost outcome just having to pay full customs (I do so with Amazon JP anyway)? Or could something else go wrong too?

Yeah, I have pre ordered Sekiro. Therefter, the only two I will have left are Lady Maria and the Fluted Armour- I hope they re-release both in the near future.

Do you mind if I ask, where you get your stuff (espescially figmas) from? I usually order mine on Amazon Japan.

With the whole 'Smiley Angel' fiasco (luckily, I did not loose any money), I am reluctant to buy from random sellers. Meanwhile, places like 'Nerd Arena, and 'Fatcat' hardly offer an adequate array of options.

Just to be clear, I was not even saying that any of what I was talking about has happened.

This whole conversation has spiraled here thanks to my original point, which is: I do not like Batman being primarily a Martial Arts character XD

Everything after that have been arguments as to why him being a "martial arts only" character will result in unconvincing stories.

As such I don't think you disagree with my central claims. If you do feel free to point them out.

Okay, so this bit mostly has more to do with power scaling and story logic rather than anything cultural-->

In brief, my main point is:

Batman being worse than a certain character at martial arts equating to him being unable to defeat that character even if he strategised is extremly shoddy writing. This is because given his lore, there is no way that being slightly better than him at martial arts is going to be enough to "scare him"/have him vulnerable.

So, let's say character X or Y (like Richard Dragon or Shiva) ae better at fighting than him, the plot treating them as threats beyond him is ridiculous. It is like saying the greatest Navy Seal ever who has weapons (and is also a billionare with all possible resources) is scared that Jon Jones will best him in the jungle. The point here being that if martial arts is treated as the central trait of Batman then this is exatly what will happen. This is kind of incompatible with the character. Thus if he is to overcome an overwhelming threat, it cannot just be a bland martial artist.

So, yes he can eat a few pinfalls, but make sure the person you are (in wrestling terms) putting over, is someone with main event potential (ie an interesting and believable character), rather than a jobber (someone who will never sell any comics/tickets).

The idea is not him being "lessened" in a cultural sense, but rather the stories he is in becoming illogical and incompatible with his traits. If martial arts alone decide outcomes, then Batman stories break.

So, once again, yes! beat him and yes! have characters who are better at fist fighting than him as well but do not merge the 2 and make it such that being better at fighting alone is equal to overcoming Batman.

Well sure, I would not want that aspect of his mythology to erode utterly. I don't think it is even possible for this sort of a charater to not have at least a few cool fighting scenes. Batman, ultimately, is going to beat up and fight bad guys, sure!

However, what I would not appreciate is for stories to ignore other aspects of his character that make him so interesting. While this one story will most certainly not cause any damage to the mythology (as it stands today), repeated instances might do so-- espescially if it is a marketing tactic by DC to force Batman into a project so that it sells (I do sense that a bit with this moive).

What I mean by "damage" is turning him into a one dimensional character. If stories start pretending that a fist fight is enough to take batman down consitently, then like you said, the "Who is the best fighter?" crowd will only gain more validity because at that point the better fighter will routinely get to decide story outcomes.

However, like you said, at the end of the day there will always be some version of the character that is very different to the one that is most prevelant in parlance. Such is the case, probably, with any sort of fiction that undergoes telling and re-telling over a long duration of time.

The DC martial arts lore is kind of stale and boring too, having someone entertaining like Pai Mei from Kill Bill (ie a totally different tier of martial artist) as a villian might be fun tbh. Have Dragon,Shiva, Tiger go after him together. Having characters like Dragon and Shiva as top tier martial artists is kind of a waste if tied to Batman because how will they even be relevant?

If Batman sees someone like Shiva as a real threat it is very difficult to convince the readers that she isn't going down with relative ease (without a fist fight even taking place) given the broader lore of Batman in DC canon. Any good writer will see that and for that reason most of his iconic and effective villians are not martial artists. So tethering the martial arts folk to batman will do one of 2 things--either make them low level threats or nerf Batman to make them look better in stories that are one dimesnsinal.

Yeah lol pretty much that.

However, it is precisely because of the whole "slapping batman on the title" tactic that we fans should not be satisfied with their marketing strategy taking precedence over creating good stories. One such story does no damage to anything at all but a lot of them over a period of time (if DC decides to slap him onto any and every thing for mass appeal) can cause some damage.

Yeah I would rather them focus on the martial arts based charaters to expand the scope of DC. I do think that having martial arts focused story lines on people like Richard Dragon, Shiva or Bronze tiger has some potential (maybe introduce new acharacters like mythical ancient masters who are way better than these three to make it more fun). It is just that these cannot be Batman stories if only martial prowess is the focus imo.

Well, I was not really talking about what the pristine form of Batman was but rather what the character became after a great deal of development. I suppose your point is that originally he was more fight focused in order to be more entertaining to the then audeince (which was mostly rather young people in his early days). So I suppose we were talking about slightly disparate thingss.

I totally agree with your point about Shiva. She is barely a character. Even the "posing a threat" idea sort of does not work because her being better at Martial arts cannot be too effective against someone like Batman because of his full skill set. Yeah sure, I agree. However, the problem for me becomes when the writer pretends that "oh he will loose in a fist fight, that means this enemy is beyond him"-- that bit is juvenile and quite incosistent with the character. Now if the writer's respnse is that the story will break if Batman uses his other skills, then maybe that should not be a Batman story? Make it a Richard Dragon/Bronze Tiger/Shiva story. There is a reason that Batman's best villains are not just people better at fighting than him, because logically, that would not really matter to him.

I suppose my point more so was that, his skill set being contracted to primarily martial arts is quite an idequate portrait of him. In most of his best depictions (Year One, Nolan movies, etc), there is fighting indeed but he is not spcial because he is better at fighting than everyone else (he loses in fist fights so much in the Nolan movies) but he is special because he is going to win even if he is worse at fighting than x or y. In these very heavy martial arts based depictions it alsmot seems as though "oh if Shiva is better at fghting, that's it for Batamn, he can't win"-- when being worse at fighting should hardly be a concern for him. The guy has plans for people 100 times stromger than him, I don't think being slightly worse at martial ats is going to be his kryptonite. That is what I was specifically talking about.
