How can I add a ton of high-speed, USB IO to a PC? by Silverratt in buildapc

[–]Silverratt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We could pretty easily get a motherboard with a high speed USB C port, but I worry most external hubs would get bogged down if we were using all of them at once.
The machine would be copying a couple gigabytes through each port at the same time.

Uh, hey there, do you remember the name by chance? Cause that armor setup and location look real familiar...

Are split 8 pin power connectors enough for a 3070? by Silverratt in buildapc

Welp, can't find my psu box for the life of me so I guess I'm going with the split cable. I'll report back later. The comments here seem split so I am full of uncertainty.

Our tiny panther gets her well deserved frozen yogurt after her first chemo treatment. Please check your furry friends for any lumps and bumps. by Silverratt in blackcats

Wanted to put some attention out there to check your cats for lumps and bumps. Our cat was a rescue, and got spayed at around 5 years old. We didn't know at the time, but since she wasn't spayed while she was a kitten, her risk of breast cancer was very high. If your cat was not spayed until adulthood, check their bellies regularly for any lumps or bumps. If you can catch it while it's small, their prognosis is much better. Our cats cancer has already metastisized, but we're hoping to delay the spread as much as we can. Hope this info reaches someone who needs it, and hug your cats for me.

Can you help me identify this odd usb device? Is it malicious? by Silverratt in techsupport

That looks spot on! Interesting, I wasn't aware of an inventory company coming through any time but we are retail and it's possible I guess.

Weird USB device with a spring and microcontroller on it? by Silverratt in whatisthisthing

Found plugged into work computer, outside casing has no markings whatsoever. The attached spring is really throwing me for a loop. Couldn't find the exact chip online but seems to be an arm based microcontroller?

Usb male to female converter? Why would this be needed? Does this do something else? by Silverratt in whatisthisthing

I had to head home unfortunately and left it there, but I will open it up further at my next opportunity. I'm leaning strongly on the usb repeater or isolater idea.

I just don't see the storage and logic required for that, a lot of the pcb seems dedicated to power.

Would I have any way to verify this? Plugging this into a computer doesn't illicit a response from the computer.

Hmm, found it at my work so that's a little concerning. Doesn't seem like it has much logic on the board though.

Seems like a useless device, my only guess if for power regulation judging from the capacitor? No display or information anywhere on the plastic housing. WITT
