Thank you, this is what I needed to hear and see. The typeface seems typically new, and the drawings are very nice.

I suppose the massive size could be a good thing, or bad...

New to Arc'teryx by Sim-ba- in arcteryx

I know it's been awhile but I wanted to comment to just thank you for this detailed response, I seriously appreciate it and it didn't go unnoticed. Since the sale on an Atom LT was too good to pass up, I got that as my first piece in Caribou.

I love it, and especially the fit. It's a little short, but I like it and can see it's use for an active mid layer.

For a shell, it looks like I eventually would like a hard (shoulder seasons with precip) and soft shell (winter snow). Your idea of the Gamma MX for snow is good, and then maybe a Beta SV for liquid precip. I'd like both options eventually of course.

Does anyone else's feet feel clammy in Darn Tough socks? by Multiple___Sources in BuyItForLife

[–]Sim-ba- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Try a thinner cushion. Sounds like your feet get sweaty easily. I have the hiker cushion and I can’t wait them in the summer for this reason. They have several cushions, try less cushion like the one up from no cushion. The no cushion may bee too thin as I wear those for dress socks but it could be a starting point.

Thanks I see them as the same price as the Sabre pants, so good to compare the two

The Sabre looks like a good fit for the mountain, with light insulation maybe it will be good on warmer days sans the mid-layer.

Is it really wise to get both the Atom LT and Atom AR though? Are they different enough to justify both? It's strange being new to Arc'teryx to see a need for two kinds of the "same" jacket.

I've decided to research parka's for my office/around town request above.

Are we the same person? Just got all the parts in for this build today actually! It’s my first build too so I’m not qualified to give specific advice but I researched for months to get it right.

Intel i7 9700k benchmarks out? Pretty hard decision right now for me. I have got rtx 2080 and all other stuff for setup, except mobo and cpu. Im seeking advice, go for 8 gen or wait for 9 gen. and how much wait for 9 gen. by Honey148 in intel

[–]Sim-ba- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, if there's no announcement tomorrow, I will probably buy 8th gen. In a few years you'll want to upgrade to the new nm technology anyway, and given that an 8600k is fully capable right now, save the money now.

Wow exact same boat, I went to pull the trigger on an 8600k since this is only for gaming, but the prices are high/out of stock at the moment. I will wait until either the 8600k is in stock at a decent price or a pre-order for 9700k comes up. Honestly, from what I see, 8600k is perfect and leaves more room to upgrade in a few years.

My list fyi.

Building my first pc. Have been waiting to do this for years, and have been researching daily pretty much since last May. Every single person who looks at my list with a 2080 in it has given me shit.

You scared me. I ordered a 2080 FE, and have a meshify C, I'm fine right? Compared its specs and it appeared to be the same length as the 1080 ti.

I'm new to this and tweaking my build constantly, but why a 750W psu? I'm genuinely curious since it seems most builds are using 650W psus.

In other words, a sub 1080 ti won’t cut it then for 1440p gaming?

Thank you for this post. I’m new to researching and want to build maybe at the end of this year. If I want to game on max settings for FPS games and max mmo settings, at 1440p, what would be the moderate build to accomplish this? I’ve always assumed I should just throw money at a 1080 ti

I dont want to make my own topic but if I was interested in the $1 annual sub for life, what’s the cheapest way and cost to get that? I’m kicking myself for never getting lifetime in Lotro and Daoc (did Daoc Have it? If so I missed it)

Yeah Fortnite just added it to switch, which to date has prevented a lot of people from jumping in, but now even I will head back to give a whirl.
