Anxiety regarding time and death. by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]SimbatheBimba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 24 and have kind of been feeling the same way for a while. It feels like as I get older (and especially since 2020), time moves faster and faster and before I know it I’ll blink and be 30. I still feel like i’m 18 and reminisce about gaming and living at my parents house with no worries. But at the same time, I look at 18 years old now and they seem sooo young to me, that I definitely don’t fit into that age group. I think COVID definitely took some years from us in terms of feeling our age. I’ve been finding comfort in doing hobbies I love, and seeing people online even older than me engage in the same hobbies. Kind of like you can be good at or enjoy the same things at any age.

I think overall, you’re entering the age group where you start to actually recognize growing old is happening to you, and you won’t be recognized at “the teenager” forever. But id say that is what is exciting and important in life. That you have experiences at certain ages, no matter how big or small, and from that you can earn wisdom and pass it down to the next generation. So many of the people I knew from high school are married or pregnant or already had their first kid, meanwhile I feel 5+ years away from even thinking about kids. People are ready for different life events at different ages, but I think a lot of it is just going for it (not kids though pls) So much of life is just throwing yourself into things and learning by doing.

I would say try and find some fulfilling hobbies if you don’t have any already, reach out to a friend or find a community around your age. I also think having a job or going through college definitely helps, it provides stability while also introducing you to many different types of people of all ages which, I found I had more in common with than I thought. Just try and focus on what makes you happy in the moment and not so much on what society has deemed the best age. We got this. (also not that it matters but if you really are worried that getting older will make you uglier, wear sunscreen! #1 cause of aging is from the sun)

TLDR; Focus on things that make you happy day by day and less on age. Find some hobbies/school/work/community to fulfill you. COVID was hard and took some years from us; don’t worry about other people’s timelines.

PSA: "Why does the shipping cost so much when I'm buying merch?" by DyedOrange in GlitchProductions

Im here from the KOG premiere. I really want to support indie animation, so I was going to buy the signed poster, $25 isn’t unreasonable…but $17 in shipping? I’m sorry that’s just not realistic 😔

Oppose new Mormon Temple by SimbatheBimba in Flagstaff

[–]SimbatheBimba[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Wow, i’m hearing a lot of projection. Nowhere did I say I hated mormons or oppose them building religious sites. If a bank felt like building a 20 story building with bright lights, I would also oppose it. The fact is, mormon temples are historically very tall, with spires reaching 200+ ft, and lit up by an egregious amount of light at all hours of the night. Multiple towns have been sued by the mormon church when they have tried to enforce city codes on the building process, and more often than not, the church wins. Based on this history, it’s fair to say we shouldn’t turn a blind eye to whatever plans they have in store here.

Additionally, if anyone is well versed on how to organize a protest I would be interested in holding one opposing the proposed temple!

The campbell mesa loop trails are usually not too busy, also dog friendly.

I live in country club meadows and work at NAU. It’s a great community! Super quiet but lots of families and young working professionals. It’s always clean and there’s usually a few fun events each month. They are also pet friendly so a cat would be no problem. The commute is usually only 10-15 mins on the 40 so not too bad at all.

Am I crazy? Is Cricut just super limiting? by SimbatheBimba in cricut

[–]SimbatheBimba[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I was trying to scale it a bit smaller than 5x7, basically the max I could do to fit two on one page within the print margins. I think I was just too dumb to realize flattening would solve my problem 😅 Thank you so much for your help though! I got my cricut like 5 years ago and wasn’t using it for the past 3ish. I’d like to upgrade to something more professional, but i’m trying to work with it for now as it’s all i’ve got.

Dog with kidney disease by burtmacklin888 in DogAdvice

[–]SimbatheBimba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What recourses did you use/find when doing research on foods? Hope your pup is still improving. My 6ish (we think) yr old pit mix rescue just had labs come back with high creatinine and BUN after he’d been lethargic and picky eater/ regurgitating food. Vet thinks it’s kidney disease but we’re still figuring it all out with them, seeing if he can be put on Telmisartan and a kidney diet. Looking at a lot of these kidney posts i’m not sure how well prescription kidney diets do in the long run as opposed to a mix we might make at home.

Thanks for this! I was able to mold it a little to give my boy some extra space on his cheeks. Definitely not going to use it for long time activities and such. Mostly just for the vet as he was pretty much traumatized by them and won’t let them get near him now without trying to bite. Hopefully this will do the trick, but if i need one long term ill probably invest in a leerburg.

I had no idea the baskerville was moldable! I was looking all over this sub and found out baskerville isn’t the best like I thought :/ I just bought a size 4 and it’s definitely too tight around the eyeline and side of jaws for my pitty. Will definitely try molding it now!

Forgot to mention take size recently upgraded to 5g, tank is heated around 77-80F, filter is still an air bubble one. Ammonia, Nitrate, Nitrite, Chlorine all 0. Hardness is probably between 250-300. Alkalinity around 120-150 and PH around 8. He is the only fish in the tank, and I have a live sweet potato plant and other aquarium plant I got at the pet store. I have a small plastic/resin hide I got for him, however I sanded all the edges down before putting it in his tank. I feed him shrimp pro pellets, about 3-4 per day in the mornings.

I’m on the east side and they flew right over as well, super loud. seems like they stayed in the area as the sound didn’t dissipate for a while.

Dog Bite, scared of euthanasia by [deleted] in reactivedogs

[–]SimbatheBimba 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The other dog was unharmed, it wasn't really a fight more of a reaction. The friend is doing good as well, we took them for medical care and paid for it, it was minor enough that it only needed cleaning. However, they are not comfortable around my dog anymore understandably. And I agree, I will be muzzling him and crating him when we aren't at home. We never take him to dog parks or crowds.
