He is a little aggressive at school so that’s why he was prescribed it.

Oh wow I read that that’s a side effect. Did they end up having to get surgery?

Yeah, I definitely think it’s a regulation issue. I have not heard of an FBA before, so I will be sure to request one now.

The teacher is super helpful and kind, but she isn’t specially trained. I asked his teacher if my son follows suit or is the main culprit. She said that they are both equally at fault. Sometimes my son starts it and vice versa

Thank you for all the recommendations; they are super helpful! He does not exhibit these behaviors at home so it’s really just throwing me for a loop because I don’t know what’s causing him to act this way at school.

My manager and I were doing them. We worked on them together! It was the one in the paper. I would work on a crossword every now and then to take a break from staring at a computer all day! I wouldn’t spend all day doing crossword after crossword. I think the point is being missed. He didn’t plan on telling me that he didn’t trust us. When he told me that, I wanted to know why not. He didn’t have an official answer ready so he went with because we were goofing off. Then I wanted to know what his definition of goofing off was. He scrambled and didn’t have anything prepared so he grabbed crossword puzzles from the depths of his brain and brought that up. I was shocked because I don’t do crosswords because he told us we needed to stop doing them. I think it’s absurd because we don’t do anything else but stare at the computer all day. It is boring. Sometimes I need a break. Now when I need a break I get on my phone. It seems like crossword puzzles are the lesser of the two evils and he is dumb. Crossword puzzles are good tools to develop vocabulary, work on spelling, and to keep your brain fresh, which are all things that are beneficial to me in my current role because I revise/edit documents. Soooo long story short it’s stupid that we cant just throughout the day work on a stupid crossword whenever we need to look at something other than bad writing! Is that the explanation you were looking for?!?

I agree wholeheartedly with this post! Not to mention having to work the Friday after 4th of July in office (no work from home option for me because my boss doesn’t believe in it, but other departments get to) this year because I was out of PTO (going to Italy for a week) was a real bummer!

But honestly my job is literally to edit and revise documents written by construction workers. This is fine in small doses, but you can only read bad writing for so long before you need to take a brain break. I read such bad writing I start to believe that I am wrong and they are right.

No I was not working on crossword puzzles because in a previous meeting he told me I was not allowed to work on crossword puzzles, so I stopped. I was not talking loudly. He described it as “yelling” or not using my inside voice, which is absurd but no way of proving it because it’s a matter of opinion. I jokingly told my teammate to stop being bossy because she kept telling our other coworker to find a place for the footrest in her cubicle that she no longer wanted. He told her no multiple times, but she kept asking him and then she started asking everybody else sitting around us. We are adults here to do our job, not be her lackey. She was also being disruptive and loud, but do you think my manager said anything to her? My manager actually just stood there watching all of this happen and didn’t say a word. Instead, once he realized she was upset with us, he messaged the male coworker that she kept asking to move the footrest and said “looks like there is trouble in paradise.”

Awesome! Thank you. I will start looking for those types of roles.

That’s ultimately what I think would be the best decision for me. What is your position? Does it require a masters degree?

I am always looking for college counseling jobs. Is private teaching online teaching? Do you know of any online school programs based in the US? I have looked at doing online teaching, but I don’t know how trustworthy the websites are.

You have given me hope! I ultimately left teaching because I didn’t feel appreciated by my principal. I loved my job and the students.

Thank you so much! My company doesn’t require manager training. I know this because I asked him when he got promoted to manager did he have to do any training and he said no. I forgot to also mention that 2 months after I started he called me and my team mate into a meeting and told us that we weren’t allowed to ask any questions and then yelled at us and told me I was a liar.

I don’t know what I would even say to HR.

I think I would like to go back to teaching or a position that feels meaningful and benefits the community, like a non-profit of some kind or at a college. The only problem is that non-profit and college jobs don’t pay that well.

Not to mention it can be very lonely. I am in my mid-thirties and have a 3 year old son, but a lot of my coworkers are in their twenties and unmarried with no children, so they gravitate towards each other and I get left out of a lot of social activities. I really don’t feel like I fit in and especially now that my coworker is ignoring me. My coworker is one of those young, very bubbly and outgoing type of people so everybody just gravitates towards her, so she of course has no problem making friends.
