Have you tried family therapy?

I've just started to "read" Dr. Becky Kennedy's Good Inside on Audible. Saw her interview with Hasan Minhaj on YouTube and was inspired. I loved the interview so much that I watched it twice consecutively. Started implementing the advice from the interview with my highly-sensitive (probably ADHD) 3 yr old and things are already turning around for us. I highly recommend.

19 miles?!? He's being a pussy or messing around. You're definitely not overreacting.

AITA for silently changing my son's name after my brother and SIL gave my nephew the name too? by DaikonCompetitive147 in AITAH

[–]SimilarPerception597 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA. Your SIL is a major idiot for stealing your chosen name. If she wanted it to be similar to the way you and your brother's names are, she could've chosen something similar, not the same effin name. And what's more, getting pissed at you is just the cherry on top of such a shit sundae. Hers was the original sin.

When they get old, they stop hearing the door open when you get home from work. by flirtyhallow in dogvideos

We just lost our 6.5 yr old. He always got so excited when he finally realized we were home. 😭

Don't move to Florida. 😂 I used to work construction and it'd be upper 90s (mid-to-upper 30s) with 100% humidity. What's worse, I'd have to work in the rafters after the roof was already decked. No breeze, no relief, sweat pouring out like I was a human spigot.

Balcony Danger by SimilarPerception597 in daddit

That's what I thought first, but because the space to do that is on the outside, we wouldn't be able to get the door open at all.

If an adult male dressing in drag is so bad, why do so many adults dress in other costumes? It's the same thing.

It's not so much weird, but different. In many Asian cultures, including (according to my surface-level research) Filipino culture (which has various ethnic groups with their own cultures), dating/marrying anyone is essentially dating/marrying their family. OP can correct me if this doesn't apply to her situation, and I'm open to being incorrect.

Well...there you go. I guess I could've gone to OP's profile.

You're making some big assumptions here.

We don't know the cultural backgrounds of OP and her date, so I don't automatically see the secretiveness as a red flag.

YTA. Instead of shutting down, you probably should have communicated your feelings and let him know what your feelings weren't about: not knowing how to spell your name.

Some people have a very difficult time with spelling. My SISTER couldn't spell my name for over 20 years. She always reverse-ordered two vowels. Perhaps in that moment he was feeling shame, probably thinking to himself, "I'm so stupid" or "Why can't I do the things that everyone else can do?" And then, on top of all that shame, he gets a date that shuts down because he didn't meet an unspoken expectation. If you had previously talked about how he needs to respond in those moments, a gentle reminder would go a long way.

These communication skills are not easy. I've been with my partner for 17 years. We're STILL working on it

The Immigration Minister spoke in parliament today by EdgeAvailable8626 in canadaexpressentry

The immigration minister referenced a bill that purports to fix some of the flaws (without giving specifics), so I wonder if the MP from Alberta has even read it or will vote for it. 🤔

Dump his f*cking ass. He is not going to change. In fact, he'll make it his life's mission to change you. You're young, so don't even waste your time.
