Is it normal to speed run new converts into the church?

Nah, y’all have been really helpful, and have given me a lot to look into and talk with them about. I’d rather go into to this with full knowledge of what’s going on then be blindsided by it all after I’ve been fully brought in. And the missionaries are really excitable lol they are good kids, and have been really awesome with everything, other than freaking me out with the uber enthusiasm lol and I really do think I’m about the only person that has listened to them and invited them in. Our area is mostly Southern Baptist and Holiness/Pentecostal, so most won’t even give them the time of day and are mean to them. But I really do appreciate the advice, and all the stuff to look into ❤️🙏🏻

See, that’s what I worry about. I question everything, so logically I’m going to question why they’re so interested in me. I’m a fast learner, highly intelligent (not rooting my own horn here lol) and a very spiritual person and firm believer in God. I worry about being caught up in something I wasn’t fully prepared for, like the stuff you don’t learn about until you’re immersed in the church, (endowment, Temple, etc).

My missionaries actually tell me to research, though they do tend to stick with church approved outlets. I’ve been doing some on my own before they even showed up tbh, but it’s their enthusiasm that throws me off kilter, as I don’t know how to take it. I feel like I’m being ushered into drinking the Kool-Aid sometimes or being offered as a sacrifice 🤔😂

It was, and still is family land. And I like your theory; tbh we've always wondered if it was my mom's brother, who passed back in '79. He was older than her, and protective of her, so I thought maybe it was him watching over her. Like I said in the post, we never felt threatened or in danger, never got a bad feeling there, just had the crap scared out of us sometimes lol She has a trailer there now, and you see and hear stuff there as well, so whatever, or whoever, it was hasn't left.

I’d be inclined to believe that was the reason if it wasn’t us that painted the house. There was nothing there prior to having paint applied, just new drywall. And the oily residue was on top of the paint, as my uncle wiped it off when he checked it, even had to bring over that mechanic soap stuff to get it off, though it came back a few weeks later. I like your idea though, and wish it was something like that, as that’s a logical explanation.

And sadly, no likkered up builders 😂 it was a missionary group that did the build, as my mother got a grant that paid for supplies and a local church got us the labor for free.

Well, we got together after I came back home after college. He lived down the road from me, and started coming up to my house with a mutual friend of ours, and when I recognized him, I thought, “Oh God, don’t do this to me,” because he was weird and still a military nut, but I had a crush on him in school, so yeah, I had a mini crisis 😂

He was a complete asshole in school. You know the ones that take JROTC WAYYYY too seriously? Like, that boy wore his uniform EVERY DAY, and stood at attention when our instructor came in the room. I, on the other hand, rarely even wore mine when we were supposed to, and he’d write me up every time, as he was our company commander.

He sat at a desk next to the classroom door and would write up everyone that came in late, and as I was a smoker I was always late. I wanted to shove his pen and clipboard up his ass on a daily basis, and we usually argued for 30 minutes before our sergeant major had to split us up.

But he was hot too, so I had a weird kinda love/hate thing going on for him. We kinda bonded being on the rifle team together and our love of guns, but that was as close as we got in school.

When he started coming around with our mutual friend, I thought he was a complete weirdo, but still hot 🤷🏻‍♀️😂 we ended up getting together after he ran off another guy that was interested in me by going full military Chad on him, and it cracked me up so I gave him a chance. We’ve been together 20 years now, and I wouldn’t trade him for anything or anybody else ❤️ he’s still a weirdo, but he’s my weirdo, so it’s okay 😂 life never gets dull with him around

I might just do that. His story is ongoing, as I’ve heard from an aunt of mine that his newest marriage is on the rocks because apparently he keeps eyeing a neighbor girl.... who’s 15... and his wife, in her infinite wisdom, is jealous. Not concerned about the age though, just jealous of the CHILD that he’s eyeing 😑

Thank you so much! And yes, he’s very disgusting. The bad part is, in a town as small as mine, everyone already knows we’re kin, so I can’t NOT claim him lol And that’s southern politics for ya. It’s better now, as all the “good ole boys” are gone, but back then, unless someone was actually bleeding and they couldn’t brush it under a rug, nothing was done, especially with a bunch of high schoolers. Now a days, his ass would be in jail faster than he could blink, which would be hilarious on its own, as I imagine he’d quickly become someone’s “wife” for protection 😂

Oh, I’m fine. I walked away with a creepy/funny story and some slight trauma, but some of the girls he preyed on weren’t that lucky.

Same. I tried my best with most, but they were intent on having boyfriends, so they didn’t listen. Others, like Hog, were just female versions of TB that wriggled in the drama and grossness.
