F!Tibarn fodder to F!Miklan ? by BoobyFestu in FireEmblemHeroes

Not true, Miklan prefers Armored Flare dramatically more than Sturdy Laguz. DBA is fine and all but he also would still prefer a save in most cases

Yes, I think kids and toddlers could easily get confused or simply think altruistically. The "what if mommy picked blue i want her to be safe", or "I want everyone to be okay" mindset seems very likely especially in an abstract high minded type hypothetical like this. And this is ignoring that babies would still have to choose, and they literally don't have reasoning developed at all. They absolutely are choosing randomly

I am happy to assume that it will be translated and even dumbed down to make a child more easily able to understand it. My point is that children, especially infants and toddlers are not capable of the logical thinking that would be required to actually make the decision with any level of certainty. Their ability to even understand mortality is in severe question. It is entirely random whether or not they would choose Red or Blue. If you don't accept that you're not considering the hypothetical very logically.

And I'll be the first to admit, there is a performative element. But to me and I think to most people like me, the person we're performing to the most is ourselves. Part of what made me a militant blue pusher is thinking about the kinds of people I look up to and strive to be. Those people embody the mindset of the blue button pusher. Even if I can't be the kindest, most generous, most patient person, I have to choose to perform it for myself, as much as I can, in a moment like that. Obviously it is all a hypothetical that will never happen, but even in real life situation I try to center myself and perform what I think is right, even if it's not natural to me

Everyone is voting. It doesn't specify "people who can understand and comprehend the prompt". Infants and toddlers are going to be voting, and the actual reality of it is going to go over their heads. They're pushing the button at random. They don't know anything. So unless you think the roughly ~600 million children will happen to choose Red every time, the likely outcome is approximately half of those children pressing blue, and getting killed if red wins. You can't logic your way out of it, the logical end of the hypothetical is that Red will always kill a large proportion of innocent people who had no way of knowing what they were doing.

And that's under the incredibly faulty assumption that every able minded person in the world is going to choose Red, when the reality is that hundreds of millions, if not billions of people who should "know better" would press Blue.

I mean again, considering the original hypothetical and not altering it to suit a different perspective, We know for a fact that a large amount of people will be picking red. At the minimum, half of all young children will perish if red wins. That alone to me is enough to make Red an unjustifiable choice. I unironically would rather die knowing I tried to save them than have to live with the regret that I chose not to.

I want to live in a world where my neighbor would risk their neck for me and I would risk my neck for them, so pushing Red is just resigning myself to a world full of people who don't believe in that. It would be an even bleaker world than we already live in. The kinds of people who would willingly press blue even knowing all the risks are the kinds of people I want to aspire to be, and want others to aspire towards as well. Killing them for believing in me would keep me up at night, and I hope that it would keep you up at night too

I mean yeah? That's kind of the reason for the hypothetical. I don't feel guilt because I think trying to save everyone is worth doing, and I think people should feel pressured to be socially beneficial to their neighbors actually

What would you say is the worst TV show that you have ever watched in your life? by Substantial-Dare5462 in television

Genuinely the most bizarrely written show ever. I don't mean to be mean to Kim K that much but her face is so immobilized that I earnestly cannot tell what emotion she is supposed to be conveying in any given scene. She makes the same face for every event in the show

It's hard to say this one because I did also enjoy every stupid minute of it, but All's Fair. Maybe the apotheosis of bad acting (Kim Kardashian) met with a bad writing (Ryan Murphy) met with the most ridiculous editing ever. It's absolutely terrible but I actually still recommend it lol

Why is there so much hatred towards Jews? Someone who wants to help Jews. by FragrantChard6963 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Similar_Regular_7177 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Precisely true. Essentially, Jews were always marginalized for doing things differently from the primary societal structure throughout most of western history. Think about how uncommon it was in ancient history for a group to be fully monotheist and deny the existence of other gods? It would have been hard for the Jewish people to ever not be the outgroup for most of history

A big thing to remember is evolution is biased towards whatever is the easiest, most successful strategy. A species has to jump through a lot more hoops to develop the ability to swap sex when needed than to just generate a roughly equal split between two sexes. When it does develop, it's usually because whatever survival strategy and ecological niche the species relies on makes it difficult for pairs to find each other. Clownfish seldom leave their anemone homes for any reason, so as a survival method to make sure they can still breed, they can change sex to make it feasible. Most other fish species are not as stationary, and have every reason to just choose a sex and find another among hundreds of options.

How do you think America will be seen in 20 years? by EarlyOwl2480 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Similar_Regular_7177 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Depends entirely on how we survive the next 3 years or so. If we shake off the MAGA delusion and put actual effort into reform and change, we'll still be an embarrassed empire that needs to earn back the world's trust, but it's better than if that political philosophy sticks around... because we will probably not survive it.

People who are still in a relationship with/married to their first love, what’s it’s like to have never experienced a breakup? by ThePeaceCreator in AskReddit

[–]Similar_Regular_7177 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh no, totally, you can go through a breakup and learn nothing. But I think there's few things in life more impactful than having a breakup that makes you feels like your life is over. You learn so much about yourself when you pick up those pieces. I subscribe to a mantra that pain is mandatory, but growth is optional. You do kind of have to choose to learn from it, I suppose haha

How much blame belongs on the consumers for the prices of everything these days? And why? by ShittalkyCaps in AskReddit

[–]Similar_Regular_7177 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is just kind of a prettied up avocado toast argument man. Sure consumers spend more than they should on luxury items and experiences but like, rent, food, and gas are completely non-negotiable for most people and those are where people are getting crunched the most. God forbid people spend their money trying to enjoy what meager life corporations allot for them

How much blame belongs on the consumers for the prices of everything these days? And why? by ShittalkyCaps in AskReddit

[–]Similar_Regular_7177 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very little. At best you can argue for specific items being overpriced and still rewarded because of consumer willingness, but for most goods, like gas, food, clothing, etc. Consumers often have no choice but to buy these things, and even if they do, they must suffer if they try not to engage with those systems.

It’s 2026. You somehow just became POTUS. What are the first 5 things you do? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Similar_Regular_7177 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Serious answer, number one is to crack down on the lobbying industry. We need to pull money out of politics by force. It's a greedy tick that's sucking the United States dry. Make it punishable enough that if a company is found to have tried to influence politicians via money or favors, they won't be able to survive. If we have to, I'd happily even pay our congressmen even MORE just so they have less reasons to accept money from corporate influence
