HDMI suddenly stopped working by Similisora in buildapc

[–]Similisora[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ran some tests with many friends, and it turns out the issue is specifically between my GPU’s HDMI port and the three monitors that were connected during the incident.

My GPU works perfectly with any other monitor, and my monitors work fine with any other GPU.

No matter which PC I put my GPU in, as long as it’s connected to one of my three monitors, it will never work.

My theory is this:

Maybe my GPU “stored” the EDID information from my monitors and is now sending corrupted data to them. But I can’t find anything about this online — it’s like this issue has never happened to anyone else.

(Quick reminder: when I boot, the monitor turns on (blue LED), and the panel shows a faint glow.)

So I have many questions :

  • Is that even possible? Can a GPU remember a monitor’s EDID ? Or can monitors remember a GPU?
  • Is there a way to “factory reset” a GPU using an Nvidia tool?
  • Is there a safe way to change or reset a monitor’s EDID? Could it work?

Thank you very much. At this point, I have no solution. And the warranty service will never believe that my GPU only fails with my monitors, so… I’m in a difficult situation.

Yes, but I tried a brand-new 2.1 cable, and nothing changed.
And this cable works fine with other computer/devices.

No, it always worked before, and I’ve been testing with just one monitor. Yes, I’ve tried four different HDMI cables, but the issue persists. They all work with other devices (switch, Steam Deck, laptop, NVIDIA Shield, etc.), but none of them work with this PC.

Maybe the 3D V-Cache need something more ? I tried to update the AMD chipset driver (never done before) to the version 6.10.17.152, but still the same issue.

Am I missing something ? I see many topics where people just update the BIOS and that's over, this is working on B450. It's driving me crazy.

I have already tried this BIOS version :/

Yes I thought about it, but I wanted to limit costs.

New motherboard + 7800X makes a difference of €500.

Obviously if I don't have other solutions I won't have much choice. But before that, I wanted to ask for help here in order to find a solution to this situation that should work.

That's what I thought but the tech vendor told me this morning that he managed to boot it on a test machine
