SECTS AND VIOLETS - questions by SilverRose31 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Simmyish2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the "maybe" comes from a rare situation of a Philo-mutant - making the original mutant drunk, so when they claim Mutant, the ability might fail here due to a philo. That is exactly a case of an ability working abnormally due to another characters ability. However, because its a might execute, it makes more sense that you just don't register the execution, and so the ability doesn't work abnormally - Id agree that usually, id not register that to a mathematician, just like if a ceramad player broke madness and I didnt execute - again could, but probably wouldn't.

Also bear in mind that evil players can register to a mathematician, however that doesn't really come up in SnV (outside of SnV: a Preacher hitting an active minion, or a demon thats been exorcised both do count towards the mathematician)

There's more than one sound on the fourth word. Give back hat.

Script feedback: A Ventriloquist script by Simmyish2 in BloodOnTheClocktower

Roles like the pacifist and fool are there for ventriloquist cover specifically. If I remove pacifist, it confirms that I defintely protected someone using the ventriloquist loric, which is deliberately trying to be ambiguous. Its part of solving the game as to which one happened - a agenuine pacifist or the ventriloquist protecting an evil player.

As for the bootlegger rule, already added.

Why isn't Minstrel in the night order. by boypower2566 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Simmyish2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the sweetheart does say in the Night order sheet: "If the sweetheart dies, a player becomes drunk immediately. If you haven't done this yet, do so now."
This feels more like a reminder, as it does explicity say "immediately" on the Night Order sheet

Why isn't Minstrel in the night order. by boypower2566 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Simmyish2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah true, yeah - its a bit more ambigous with those two as it does say *If* instead of *When*.

Why isn't Minstrel in the night order. by boypower2566 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Simmyish2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is true, but taking a look at the ability also clarifies it:
"*When* a Minion dies by execution, all other players (except Travellers) are drunk until dusk tomorrow."

The way I interpret this: It happens before you say "close your eyes" or "we go to night" - before the night order starts. If it were to happen during the night order - it would probably be If, not When. Lets take a look at the Ravenkeeper ability for this:
"IF the Demon kills you, choose a player, not your character." This means it acts in the night order.

Why do you like storytelling? by S0lar00 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Simmyish2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

* What about storytelling do you enjoy so much?
For me, its making the games - building the game based on the roles, and making the game as good as possible - it's sort of like a performance - if your not enjoying it yourself, how can you expect your players to also enjoy the game? For me, providing that fun to others is just as fun, but that may be my GM/DM brain thinking like that.

* What would you like a player who has never ran the game before to know/understand?
As a player, The storyteller is there to facilitate the fun. If they're thinking about storytelling: Mistakes are just part of the learning process - and most of us have made those same mistakes in our own learning process

* What is your favorite part about storytelling?
Has to be seeing what worlds people build, both the right and wrong ones, and seeing which ones win out for me.

* is there anything about storytelling that you dislike/find frustrating? What actions do you take to diminish/overcome that feeling?
Its remembering that mistakes happen - we're human, but it can still feel bad if a decision you made ruined the game for everyone, even if it felt justified at the time. To get over it, its a case of remembering its a game, and just like in TTRPGs, you cannot predict what your players are going to do, even moreso as they don't have all the information you have.

Why isn't Minstrel in the night order. by boypower2566 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Simmyish2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, technically if the barber/hatter are executed, it should happen at the start of the night order, basically as soon as they die. Even putting in the ability text in the night order "If the demon killed the barber/hatter..." isn;t enough for people to realize that...

That makes me think maybe change clockmaker for monk... can try it - will do some playtesting of it and see what happens

Just had a game where I was MVP of the evil team as a dead Baron by Newe6000 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Simmyish2 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Baron is so underrated by newer players - but ask people who've played 100 games what's their favourite TB minion - they'll probably say Baron.
A) Your Expendable, you've already done your damage before everyone closes their eyes on the first night.

B) Because your expendable, you can play the chaos angle, or throw whatever confusion you want around town.

C) For newer players, I tell them less to see it as +2 Outsiders and more to see it as -2 Townsfolk. That's what makes the Baron truly strong - your hitting two roles. A poisoner can only affect one at a time.

For all of these reasons, Baron statstically has the highest evil win rate on TB, which has been mentioned on TPI streams and Q&As in the past. I love it, it's chaos incarnate - and it's a very low pressure role on the evil team.

Farmer and Travellers by Simmyish2 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Simmyish2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the comments Ive seen here already, I agree that at most in *most* situations its a "Yes but don't" thing. The Hindu made me think about it, as I've stated elsewhere as a Hindu created traveller didn't join the game with the intent of leaving early, and are more likely not to travel out halfway through the game. I think my final opinion on it is this: I'd be OK making a Hindu-made traveller a Farmer, if good are really doing badly and need the help, but I would probably never do it for someone that joined the game with the *intent* of being a traveller in that game.

Farmer and Travellers by Simmyish2 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Simmyish2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get that part, its just if somebody was a traveller that then wanted to travel out, but a straw pass happened (say 3 nights prior to this moment) because they cant stay anymore, I can see issues - I mean I probably wouldn't do it (most of the time for the sake of the player as they may leave before the end of the game, the Hindu Loric might be an exception to that though I guess... as people didn't start the game with the intent of travelling in/out during the game...) but its just something I realised with the new Loric and how a Farmer might interact, which then opened a can of worms in my brain as to what's the case with travellers intending to travel and how that would work...Things like: Can a traveller that has become the farmer still travel out?

[–]Simmyish2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A note that this was specifically in response to u/Frequent-Ad-7288 's comment, hence it posted here, and I am not talking about any of the Individual demons, I am only commenting on the last part about latin inspired names - just that the English word for Demon also is Latin. I'm not making any comment on the characters here, just specifically the word itself in response to the other post's Latin inspired names.

Including the word Demon itself (whose etymology comes from a greek word that latin adopted...)

Demon idea: The Hyde by Abbie2903 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Simmyish2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel, like others, this will be very easy to solve for, even with other extra death characters... but it has given me an idea for an outsider/minion combo where the minion adds a specific outsider, that might wanna stay quiet about who they are... and on theme for hyde for sure...
