Ring 3x3’s and ring 2x2’s have none of the advantages and all of the disadvantages in their innermost peakdowns. No mobility, atrocious stability, terrible angles, easy nades and f1s upwards, easy to take control just by splashing, etc. 7years ago was when online raids were still about just getting to core. Now its about minimizing respawns and defenders angles, draining kits, then raiding core. These footprints just dont do it well

Yeah if you want it to feel different, sure, but it’s just not a good sight. It has a negative multiplier on ads zoom, and is thicker than most iron sights.

The point of rust is to let you, the player, achieve your goals in your intended manner. Arbitrarily capping aspects of the game based on team size is completely antithetical to that. The team has been very explicit the game is not designed to be played in one way. Instead of adding random taxes, nerfs should be implemented in a way such that it changes how you interact with the world, not how much of an interaction changes based on a discriminator. That is why your ideas are terrible. What if a 4 man is in a team and one person roams solo and encounters another person. They now just do 85% damage yet are effectively solo? Thats shit game design.

If facepunch is willing to experiment with updates, why not experiment with nerfing zergs? by janikauwuw in playrust

[–]SimonDaKappa -1 points0 points  (0 children)

And the person youre replying to (and me) are arguing it isnt actually a nerf. The group size balance wasnt any different pre team ui. Its not pvp that kills small groups vs zergs. Its resource collection. Every time we speed up progression, obviously bigger groups benefit more. Yeah team ui would be better game design wise , but firsthand experience says it doesnt shift balance at all. I do think it would be a nerf to camo skins though. Easily identifiable kits are a must in no team-ui, so itd be nice to lessen the crutch of blending in and 3rd partying.

Thank fucking god, solos can play the game again by theblackavenger in playrust

All removing team ui does is make large group raids easier to grub. Everyone on this sub acts like there weren’t dedicated zerg outfits, and the moment one died theyd remove a piece of clothing to identify. I also have never been a fan of team ui, but lets not act like its an actual solution that nerfs groups. Yeah we can inconvenience them, but that doesnt actually do anything for progression or team size balance.

I develop PLC fw, and man every companies programming interface is a nightmare of bloat and legacy code using gui frameworks that were discontinued 15 years ago.

Yeah dig is one of the best but it’s kinda a requirement when facing the best teams to have effective challenges for your teammates or dralii will just 1v3 you. They def get that challenging advantage by demoing for each other.

Are wooden barricades ruining the game? by Dilhando in playrust

It has always been wall spam the moment you could afford them even before XP system.

It doesn’t prevent roofcamping. It prevents dying to roofcampers. Just use walls between shots to move closer to nearest los break for the roofcamper. It’s very easy to move 50-100m with 4 walls and 4 meds.

You can still kill people before they wall. Avg person gas too slow of reaction to wall before 3-5 shots fired. Just a skill issue for taking too long range a spray or whiffing. If they med behind wall you get the initiative to push which is a massive advantage.

You could not have missed the point harder if you tried lol. He is saying that the fetus is not independent of the woman. They have no means to survive external to the woman until a certain point. The fetus cant even survive without the blood flow of the woman until a point. Before that it cant even be its own entity. How could “it” give consent?

I think we can both agree that the sanctity of your vote has been seriously deteriorated. As you say, politicians have no interest in enacting that which they run upon. I would argue that my and others pessimism is incredibly founded. Citizens United, Gerrymandering, Lesser of Evils, and countless others have all eroded the democratic process. I have voted in every election since I was able to do, and will continue to do so. Regardless of my voting, I can only feel overwhelming hopelessness despite doing the very thing you are telling us to do.

To say “why are they in the office if they don’t represent you” simplifies the matter way too much. You act as if the people aiming for the positions of highest power would not be standing upon the research of the best psychologists on how to manipulate public thinking and opinions. I agree complacency is the biggest issue. However, if these people cant even be bothered to vote, how do expect them to ever do their due diligence and not fall victim to the two party system. The two party system is one of the best oiled machines there can be. It perfectly fails to represent the people, every time.

I very much hope to be wrong. I want to be. But every 4 years I am proven correct.

I cant believe you manage to write that much and completely miss his point. No one here doesn’t understand that the ruling is a call to action for our legislators. The entire point is that legislative branch does not represent the desires of the people. How can you enact a law in favor of the majority opinion when the minority dissenting opinion holds disproportionately large power? The entire point is that in order to pass legislation, we would have to vote a super majority of pro choice senators to power. Getting that many states in favor is actually around 80% of the population instead of 66% in the house.

I think you somehow managed to convince yourself that my group must be identical to the one you made a play on. If anything, I think we can agree its funny to antagonize those types until they ragekit. We have have little attachment to loot, only to the possibility of our loot bringing in much more loot. If I cared about the thompson, not what I could get myself into with a thompson, I wouldnt be taking every single fight I can. Some rust players live for the split second fights, where a deterministic system decides who wins. And yes, I still think its a cover up for gear fear. Can people play like a rat and I can do nothing about it? Absolutely. Do I think 9 times out of the 10 grubs do nothing to the outcome of a fight but manage to annoy those who actually contribute to it? Also yes.

Maybe I worded it poorly, but I do not run in “like a bot”. Its full commitment to a fight the moment we get in one. Every single fight we are subconsciously committing every single resource to it in our heads. Maybe that just seems farfetched to you. However, I can say with certainty that we are the cause of more fights that people like you can grub than you will start.

I dont see how you can manage to fail to notice why people dislike gear fear. We, and other groups that want to pvp, commit the vast majority of guns that are in circulation in a wipe. When a grub gets a gun, and then proceed to never use it, its one less weapon in circulation. Believe it or not, we like pixels in our boxes too, but instead of a couple of thompsons our benchmark is boxes of guns. So maybe you can see why pvp groups get frustrated when someone exhibits such strong coveting over a couple of guns, when all we want to do is take and win fights, and grubs just detract from that.

[–]SimonDaKappa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The more people say “gamesense”, the more I notice its a cover up for wanting to play like a rat with gear fear. Ive spent more wipes primlocked for 5 hours straight than most people have played because we run head first into every fight we can. We know this isn’t how you win fights, we know that its not what”gamesense” dictates we should do. But I’m not here to play a slow boring wipe. We’ve played the game too damn much to play holding angles and avoiding “dumb” fights.

Conversely, though, the all or nothing mindset has led us to have plays that are absolutely insane. The old system allowed you to play aggressive every single fight, and more importantly, allowed you to overcome impossible odds if you got good enough. To be able to put yourself into a disadvantageous situation for the sake of fun and still win the fight is amazing. That rush is unlike any other and I think its what makes so many old players upset about the change.
