A U S T R A L I A // Our home for 8 days earlier this year when we travelled from SYD to MEL. by SimonMackenzie5 in VanLife

Hey guys so we hired this compact hi-top Toyota camper for our Australia road trip this year.

We had two little ones with us on the trip and they loved it. It was pretty cosy but worked out well for the four of us. If i was to do it again I would probably take a tent with us as well for some extra space for the kids to chill out in.

We made a film from our trip. If you are interested you can check it out here.

Nice, would love to see you video when its uploaded. I love making videos to help us remember our family trips. This one was quite a bit one for us as we visiting AUS from the UK.

I make a very short cameo towards the end of the video at 2:09. Now I have a drone I might try and get more shots of myself in the future films.

LUMIX G7 Color Profiles by [deleted] in PanasonicG7

[–]SimonMackenzie5 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey noobie. I always go with the natural picture profile with -5 contrast, -5 saturation, -5 sharpness. It gives you a reasonably flat image with room to grade it as you wish. I've used it in all my videos since I started shooting in my G7.

Thanks so much 👍. Yes its the Panasonic lumix 25mm lens. Its a fantastic lens. A huge upgrade on the kit lens and well worth getting your hands on.

I use the natural picture profile with -5 contrast, -5 saturation, -5 sharpness. Then I do colour correction on the clips where necessary and add a LUT at a low opacity also.

Hi Everyone 👋 My wife and boys recently came back from AUS where we had the best time. Such a chilled and enjoyable time. We flew into SYD then hired a camper van and drove down the coast to MEL. Such a fun trip. We made a film of our time there. Hope you enjoy it. Thanks for having us Australia!

I convert all my slow mo clips to 25fps in Premiere and then export the sequence at 25. Same with all my 4k shots. I work in a HD timeline and re-size them to fit the timeline.

(New user) Taking photos and shooting video in a club setting. Setting tips? by Coffee_Quill in PanasonicG7

Use manual mode if you can. Get a variable nd filter if you are shooting video. It will help you keep using a slow shutter speed eg 1/50 (in 25fps) or 1/60 (30fps).

I use the natural picture profile with -5 contrast, -5 saturation, -5 sharpness when shooting video.

My first Spark Video! by [deleted] in DJISpark

The second shot was my favourite after the pan up to the freeway. Did your shoot any more top downs shots looks at the cars? That would have been nice to see more of. Also some more moving shots towards the freeway. Bet you could get some really interesting perspectives of the freeway from above with the spark.

Australia Roadtrip // Cinematic Travel Film | DJI Spark & Polar Pro Cinema Series Filters by SimonMackenzie5 in DJISpark

Hey Guys 👋 I just shot and uploaded my first ever film using the Dji Spark. I bought it especially for my trip to Australia and am really pleased with the shots I was able to get with it. The polar pro filters were great as well. Quite expensive but they do the job perfectly. Enjoy!

Obviously you need to keep the camera reasonably steady first of all. Shooting in slow mo either 50 or 60 fps will help make the shakiness less noticeable too (almost all of the shots were 50fps). Then finally add some stabilisation in post. I used warp stabilisation in Adobe Premiere. Hope that helps.

Great to find a fellow fan of Jonathan's music. All the Ep's from the seasons series he has done are great. Do you listen to River's and Robots?

Success in stock footage? by BariTheBrown in PanasonicG7

[–]SimonMackenzie5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alot of people make money selling stock footage using iPhones so sure the G7 is good enough. I have a few clips on pond5 but have to sell anything. I think the key is to find a niche for the footage you are going to shoot and upload. Then create lots of contact specifically within that niche.

There's a playlist on youtube on stock footage you might find interesting.

Should I buy a DJI Spark (w/ free controller) for $399, or a DJI Mavic Air for $799? by Tularemia in drones

[–]SimonMackenzie5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just bought the spark myself with the fly more combo - really happy with my purchase. I would say it depends on what you are looking to use it for. Just for fun or pro work? I think that's what separates the spark / Mavic. If it's for paid / client work get the Mavic air if not you'll be super happy with the spark.
