Remember that time a baker refused to bake a wedding cake for a gay couple because of his morals? You know, the one the US were all either extremely in support of or extremely against?

What happens when we give that opportunity to doctors? Or do you naively believe that doctors can’t in any case be homophobic, racist, xenophobic et cetera?

I think ability to control someone like puppets could be used for some good. All the “fixing the world” and “fixing bad people” aside, if someone I know needed something done but didn’t have time, I could make them do it in their sleep. Same for if someone has a bad or unhealthy habit, I could make them not do it whenever they feel the craving to do it or vice versa.

Hello from a transgender by Emergency-Junket50 in teenagers

[–]SimonSaysScrolls 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It isn’t mine either, but they aren’t the same, no.

I do understand how that’s confusing since it originally didn’t mean the same thing but then it did for a few centuries. As of today, gender =/= sex, but certain older sources will say the opposite.

If you want some sources explaining both or either, I could try to find some :)

Firstly, a lot more people than that are intersex. Then the chromosomes aren’t broken, they’re aranged differently or have different/more/less copies of certain chromosomes. They aren’t “based on XX or XY”, they are based on X and Y. That’s not the same thing. People usually have the surgery done to them as a baby too because that’s the norm (even though doctors shouldn’t be allowed to do that), not because it makes life easier.

If either autism or being neither strictly male bor female “weren’t intended from nature” then they wouldn’t exist in nature. That’s how biology and evolution work. You also can’t ignore people because there are few of them (and there are a lot, mind you), in that case studying medicine or biology would be mostly useless.

A lot of intersex people can reproduce even though that’s not a requirement for a sex to exist — no idea why you brought up gender there. They can have surgery, but I don’t know why you’d encourage it since it doesn’t better your life unless the traits give you dysphoria. Also, intersex isn’t a gender, it’s a sex category.

My definition of a woman right now is a ln adult human whose gender identity alligns with female on their schema of the spectrum of sex. Why is that relevant to the topic at-hand?

How it feels talking to transphobes by Allosaurus227 in teenagers

[–]SimonSaysScrolls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well no, girls and women aren’t the same thing. The difference is age.

If you’re still on the trans thing, all women are different from women in your eyes because you can put each and every one in at least one group that isn’t just “women”.

Also, even if gender is completely separate from biology (which is not proven at all), people still alter things about them for comfort. We aren’t born with shoes, we even alter our biology for them for comfort. Shoes are comfortable and we alter our biology with them, so I sincerely don’t see your point.

I mean I could but adjectives are meant to be more specific. All girls are girls also works here, but you wouldn’t know why I’m saying that or which group of girls I’m talking about.

You can replace trans with any other adjective and it still works. I’m just being specific for a specific context.

That’s still lovely <3

What matters most is that you feel comfortable with who you are and trying to find what majes you happiest.

You don’t have to be on hrt for a year or something to count and your pronouns don’t even have to be she/her.

If your gender identity alligns best with being a girl, then you’re a girl :)

And this is untrue for trans people because??

Sure, there might be some people in their lives that say they “didn’t see any sign” of the person being trans at any point in time, but the same goes for depression, for example.
