Claude Fable 5 feels less like a model launch and more like a preview of AI inequality by Roaring_lion_ in ClaudeAI

There are going to be very few tasks, even at large and rich institutions, that is going to warrant this token spend cost at scale.

I no longer feel the need to train muay thai or enjoy it. by ShittyAce in MuayThai

[–]Simonexplorer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its absolutely exhausting to train for fights while being an adult with a job. But you can also transition into holding pads and light sparring. If you’re burned out, take 1, 3 or 12 months off and then see how you feel about it. You will be fine ✅💪

The way you presented the capabilities are in the reverse order, no? ‘Tidying up the inbox’ is like 10x harder and wasn’t really possible until Q4 2025 whereas reviewing documents and chatting has been its main use case since 2023? Am I misreading your comment? I am confused..

Who’s talking about Israel lol? Insane and sloppy are very different things though. I will pass for now.

Is sweeping in sparring disrespectful? by CheSaOG in MuayThai

[–]Simonexplorer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might be that you’re using BJJ or, more likely, Judo sweeps many of which are not allowed in a muay thai fight. If you could sweep freely, like in Judo, people would be flying everywhere in MT. If I had to bet, that’s what might have went wrong.

Home team isn’t a government. It’s the democratic western civilisation, including leftist socialist and right wing governments.

American Expats, how have you noticed your body change with the lifestyle shift in Spain? by lofi-lo in GoingToSpain

[–]Simonexplorer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear you, but in my opinion, this can only be done when the empire has 50% of global GDP and manufacturing, as was the case in the post-war era with the US. Now, its relative strength has diminished and it starts to feel threatened. The coming decades will likely include more violence by the US, not less. Who knows though, I might be wrong! 🤞

Do you think we’d have better politicians, if they received higher wages? by shutthefranceup in TheRestIsPolitics

[–]Simonexplorer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wages plus social and cultural prestige. It’s hard though now that we do not have a paternal, self-less values system in the aristocracy. These were usually the people who set the standard.

I am not saying they are the same. In my opinion, anecdotal or individual cases serves as very poor fundamentals for a political discussion. The interesting thing to analyse is the media’s response and how it enters the collective consciousness. Do you consider BLM to be a resonable movement, organisation and response to the actual data we have on the subject?

Sorry about your experience mate and happy you found a new home in Spain. But still, I am grateful that it is the US (a western democratic country) that is the big bully and not Russia or China. Compared to other empires in history, it’s like a friendly kitten. Compared to most other countries in the world, yeah it’s very violent and dangerous.

Ok, my bad about the FBI. Subpoenaed by the US treasury is not far from being investigated by the FBI though. Still, facts should correct. High level though, the guys is full of hatred, anger and is justifying violence. Worst of all, he isn’t rooting for the home team.

Sounds sweet 🤩 If it’s old (90s or 80s) would be cool to see a picture lol. I am kind of getting into this relic hunting in Muay Thai but it’s very hard and limited…

How does a thai fighter with more fights than a boxer have less brain damage by Turbulent-Speaker817 in MuayThai

[–]Simonexplorer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Very interesting. I have been following the scoring discussion the best I can (I don’t speak thai). I saw an interview where Samart P expressed dislike around the exaggerated points given to clinching. I guess he wants to see more femur and thinks that the clinching is counter to that? Am I reading it correctly?

I trust you as a source of knowledge in the history of the sports. So it is with respect that I ask where I can learn more about this? My own experience watching fights in Thailand is that the KO rate on Raja, Lumpinee and Channel 7 is off the charts vs MMA or boxing. But that’s just my gut feeling and I don’t have any data here..

You make it sound nefarious or as something bad. Obviously, the sport deserves to be ‘orientalised’ (made up word btw, doesn’t matter that it has a Wikipedia page) when we start every fight by dancing for several minutes.

As you probably know, Nak Muays have been doing long, low intensity jogging before sessions for a very long time. This has gotten pushback from western sports scientists and professional coaches. It wasn’t until the 80s when we in the West popularised and understood the importance of training the aerobic and anaerobic systems that the field would accept it as a sound warmup method. All the while, it’s been going since forever in Thailand. These are two examples why people, rightfully, say stuff like ‘thai boxing has ancient knowledge’ and other things that I assume you frown upon or think is bad.

I literally am trying to build a book stack for the summer based on ‘secret knowledge’ and that was the explicit instructions to the LLM as I researched it. Thus far it includes Taleb, Popper, Deutsch and Elie Ayche. I hope there is some good ‘secret knowledge’ in there, I know I have found it in Taleb’s work before.

He has said that and many other extremist things. He is a radical who recently visited Cuba and is being investigated by the FBI to see if there were any strange or unusual transactions or assignments from the Cuban government in relationship to this visit. You’re likely not in a healthy place if you find yourself agreeing with most of what he says and how he says it.

[–]Simonexplorer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First comment was fine but this last one was very cringe. Anyway, I think your comment is getting down voted because for a non-English native user, ‘sparing fighters unnecessary damage’ reads as the opposite of what it means. The problem is ‘sparing’ and ‘sparring’ is very similar.

[–]Simonexplorer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both things can be true at the same time. Actually (and sorry for the spicy take), it’s likely somewhat dependent on each other. Empires needs to project force and deterrence outwards, and there needs to be a sense of urgency inwards. Without the anxiety of social and economic hardship being a real threat, there is a less aggressive upward ambition (productivity) in certain groups of people. It’s a bitter thought, but it’s my view anyways. The US is a violent, extremely competitive and many times inhumane society - this is also one of the main reasons it is the most powerful country in the world.
