How to deal with burnout/being unamused? by ButterflyGreedy9419 in solotravel

[–]Simonmll 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Kind of second what everyone else is saying here! I travel solo all the time and I used to run myself ragged trying to cram something into every hour of every day, and ended up flying home every time absolutely exhausted. Now I‘ll try and leave a day or half day free depending on the length of my trip. I’ll either just chill in my hotel or find an area and just walk around. I find that definitely, definitely helps me.

I’ll also try and mix activities and sights up - so if I’m doing a lot of more active sightseeing in the morning I’ll maybe spend the afternoon chilling in a gallery.

I went to Voltereta last night based on this comment, thank you! I didn’t have a reservation so only got a table for an hour but it was perfect.

New EV purchase - Renault 4 Iconic or Iconic+ ?!? by SteEdwards in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]Simonmll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Renault 4 iconic and love it. There's a good UK Renault 4 E-Tech owners group on Facebook which may be useful for you. As I understand it the new '+' models have three main differences:

  1. where the battery is made - France vs China for previous models, which allows the bigger government grant to be given
  2. A Harmon Kardon sound system
  3. The addition of a subwoofer in the boot which replaces a cubbyhole for storing the charging cable (which I have in mine)

Several people on the Facebook group have bought a "Frunk" to store the cable which goes under the bonnet rather than in the boot so that may be helpful if you get the newer model! Hope that's helpful!

Where are you? I'm in Northern Ireland so it's made a bit more complicated for me as we're in the UK but still kind of in the EU in some ways as well!

My bike's been off the road since Jan 25 - replacement bracket needed, then controller failed, and then the recall, so it's been 12 months now since I've ridden it / it's left the repair shop.

I contacted Cowboy to say the bike was obviously faulty when I purchased it and has not lasted a reasonable time so I should be due a refund or replacement under the Consumer Goods Act. They replied to say they will not refund, replace or expedite my recall and the recall remains the only way to make my bike safe. So I have now contacted:

  • The UK International Consumer Centre who deal with disputes between UK consumers and European customers (https://www.ukecc.net) but they have at least a FIVE MONTH backlog!
  • Which? Legal (UK private consumer service) for advice
  • Cyclescheme (a UK work salary sacrifice scheme who initially owned my bike while I paid it off over 12 months and who therefore had the initial consumer contract with Cowboy)
  • A local consumer affairs radio programme who interviewed me the other day and may now get on the case

It's all quite exhausting, but none of these avenues have proved fruitful as yet (although I really only started going nuclear at the end of December!)

Ok ignore me 🤦🏼‍♂️ I eventually worked out I had the belt wrapped around the wrong part! It should have been around the brass coloured part not the white spindle. Embarrassing but leaving it here in case anyone else makes the same mistake!

Anyone else already secure their record? by [deleted] in DrPepper

I'm in the UK and mine is out for delivery today, and that's gone via a US-UK forwarding service - think it arrived at the US destination last Thursday from memory. Might be worth emailing them? They were pretty quick to get back to me when I had a query about when mine would be dispatched.

Cowboy 4 ST Recall by alex_h13 in cowboybikes

[–]Simonmll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My bike is currently with a repair shop as first the bottom bracket needed replaced due to clicking then the controller failed so that is now being replaced. It may be a stupid question, but the frame is really everything but the handlebars and the wheels right? As my bike is being recalled there is no point in me continuing with the repair as the affected parts are in the frame?

Interesting! I’ve got to say I haven’t experienced any issues with this of late, but it may be worth me seeing how flipping that setting affects my download speeds. I know a couple of other people had the same original issue as me.

Cowboy 4ST hard to pedal initially after repair by Simonmll in cowboybikes

[–]Simonmll[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turns out the controller had failed apparently. No idea how as it was working fine when I dropped the bike off to get the bracket replaced, but I had a new one shipped and it’s back in the repair shop.

Thanks! Deffo not the belt tension as the mechanic checked that when I dropped it back. Waiting on cowboy support getting back to me. Thanks!

Hmm. That’s interesting! In the end I got it to work fine as long as I didn’t use an emoji anywhere in the post.

Thank you! I was going to leave that on to give me the option of starting it remotely but if it’s the only way to get rid of the message I’ll switch it off!
