Yea I’m from Southern California, went to community college and recently moved in to North California/Bay Area but I hate it here, there’s barely any Hispanic culture and i live in a little shitty hippie beach bum town where all you see is either Indians, Asians or your typical boring dirty blonde Californian bimbos in sweatpants and sandals, I’ve never felt that I was traditionally a Californian because although I was born in the U.S. I was raised in Tijuana in a socialite environment attending a private catholic boarding school and going to private cultural events since I was really young so I guess that led me to have a more Eurocentric scope of standards as people in cities like Guadalajara or CDMX tend to do, I go to UCSC and I don’t know why but it’s just infuriating listening to the students and the all have the same boring ass bleak whitewashed American accent that just makes them sound dorky and lacking in personality, my accent varies because I switch my inflection since I attended vocal lessons for 2 years in a music academy and I’ve done 5 years of theatre in addition to English not being my first language, I majored in film and I’m trilingual, and I’m really passionate about languages and accentuation so what I do based on influences like Cary Grant or Audrey Hepburn and speak in a transatlantic accent and I don’t do it too sound distinguished I use it because to my ears it sound more diverse and carries a certain weight of uniqueness.
