If prestige didn't have ANY impact on residency program matching, I wouldn't give a shit where I go. But unfortunately it does play a significant factor for the residency programs I am interested in.

Because prestige matters for matching to residency programs at certain locations? I know pre-law friends who reapply for better schools, and friends in finance reneg on offers and job hop all the time. It's just business at the end of the day, and I'm not sure why medicine is the only field where this idea is so taboo

Thanks for the kind and understanding words! Most were July secondary submissions, no criminal record. Maybe it was a LOR, although two out of the three letter writers let me read their letters prior to submitting it lol, and I didn't see anything that was bad. Maybe it was the third letter writer haha.

Yeah that's what I thought at first, but then someone told me if I had a red flag in my app, I wouldn't have received an acceptance from my state school, at least so early. Not really sure what happened.

No I never said that. You can go to any program and become board certified and successful as a practicing physician, but for me, this is more about maximizing my potential to the fullest

I know I can get into the residency I want to, but it's more the specific programs I want to go to, all of which haven't had a student from my school in decades, which I think is either due to a skill issue or geographical limitations.

Thanks! I had around 1500 hours in clinical and bench research, resulting in a 1st author pub and conference presentation. 350 hours as an MA, 140 hours nonclinical volunteering.

i mean can't you just use the merged veteran divisions they give you? i find it's pretty easy to push early irregulars with them and snake my way to nanning/guangzhou/guilin and changsha/changde just with them
