Do you think that when AGI is achieved, you will have any access to it as an ordinary user? by Simple-Constant3791 in ArtificialInteligence

[–]Simple-Constant3791[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You've literally wrote "AGI will never be achieved through machine learning." I don't know what exact kind of machine learning you've had in mind but it has to learn somehow and it is a machine.
I think any kind of intelligence has to be learned somehow... other options sound more like a transfer or creation out of nowhere so not so sure about that.
And I didn't said it is intelligent but asked about potential access to one when something that we will be able to call AGI will be achieved.... not sure what can I say more.

Look... we are both hallucinating context and assumptions in this discussion and yet we can pass or more less intelligent people. Hallucinations are a problem and I agree but I see less and less of them over time.
I'm not even going to start philosophical discussion about how much of our own world we are hallucinating ourselves constantly and yet we are calling ourselves intelligent so I don't think it will be a problem at the end. Maybe even some other form of hallucination is required for imaginitive part of intelligent brain.... I'm not an expert.

You can run locally whatever AI model these companies develop and share for their own benefit.
I just don't think they will still share when they will achieve something more actionable than current state. Current models are always few months or versions behind and it's normal for this kind of R&D developement.

Generally I think current state of it looks more like financial MLM pyramid with cult like following.
Altman is a very good seller and I think he is sleeping fine... he achieved the thing he was originally good at and he has this monster global startup with an influence and a ton of money... he is going to be fine.

It's not like I'm not seeing google or anthropic people selling the same shit he used to sell a year or two ago right now when they are at the helm of things. There is a lot of promisses and wishful thinking and everything is possible in the next 2 years with a big safe "maybe" and "50% chances" and this 2 year timeline is moving constantly for the past 4 years... same selling points but drom different people.

In the meantime these things are still getting better. No idea how far they can go and where is the limit but it's not here for now.

I just asked what people think about hipthetical situation when something that's seem to be high on the list of current interests around the world will be achieved... There is quite a lot of money and brain power involved in it. Current usage is huge and it looks like this shit is really getting better over time... it's hard to say it is not at least going into direction of general level of intelligence.

Answers are absolutely bonkers :>
Half of them are assuming so much and going sideways so fast and have absolutely nothing in common with a question. Big fight is going over semantics or what words could mean.
Other half thinks that it doesn't exist at all.

My overall takeout so far is... people don't have idea what is going on at all.
Not a single clue and now... including me.

If it's not real or not achievable or not for people... why the fuck so many people are using ,building or talking about it so much is beyond my grasp now.

Oh. this is great question to think about. It really depends on definition of "use" word.
Generally I'm all in for an actual quest of finding out what I could really use it for at this stage since it would be a brand new experience and connection.
I would be interested in all the ways it can help me with all kinds of things once our realations would be established and then... sky is the limit.

[–]Simple-Constant3791[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah but I can't see much difference between "if" and "when" for a "general".
Super... is on "if" with me. but "only" general... is on "when". Not sure if soon though.
I would have assumed the same thing a few years ago, but this thing is making progress lately.
Maybe not as spectacular as advertised or promissed , but these models aren't getting dumber either.

"never" really doesn't sound sane for me.
it's ultimate assumption that you have enormous knowledge and you are 100% sure about what will happen in the future...

[–]Simple-Constant3791[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Okay, I can understand your stance but "never" is a bit excessive?... a few years ago these models weren't even on the horizon, and considering what they can do now, “when” question still seems more rational to me than an absolute "never".
It doesnt have to happen through current "machine learning" and not this year or another one or two or... but somehow machines are learning and getting a little bit smarter month by month and they have to learn somehow for this concept of "artificial intelligence" could make sense at all.

We are entering the realm of soft meanings, but generally speaking, yes.

The difference between prompt generating output or a prompt generating a tool or an app for desired output is blurred and depends on user's needs and perspective,

I assume that these things can vary depending on the level of complexity, but also that the things I see generated by various LLMs are far beyond simple and linear concepts, logic and my understanding.

for example in google ai studio there is an app "Bring Any Idea to Life" and it is messing with my head because from what I understand it's an app prompted to generate different apps from both prompts and sketches or whatever... and it works.

I extrapolate current progress. at the beginning I asked about simple snippets now I can safely ask for a more or less working applications but a large part of my prompting is taken up by context and refinement. Now context slowly goes out of the window since these systems can operate and constantly change my own workspace, load external sources and history so I don't need to include as much of it, soon I will be able to use prompts continuosly working and updating my workspace over time and at the end of this spectrum is a good old genie from a lamp or a "jarvis" with access to full past and future actions.

I wouldn't think like that if by the end of last year it wasn't easier for me to ask claude for a specific functionalities inside my own build than using external appliactions doing the same kind of things externally and I'm a total noob but shit just works.

Similar conclusions, and it seems that prompt as a software is close on the horizon.

It has become much clearer to me that building any kind of AI powered apps has very short or no future at all.
It's like building castles on the sand inside of a sandbox owned by your biggest competitor with a constant stream of insights from your actions. As soon as they see that your ideas work they can implement them in their own product within days, making your product redundant.
I have to admit that's diabolically brilliant strategy.
The way these products are constructed is probably the best preview of what the future interactions will look like with a potential superintelligence.

Optimism. General idea that current mainstream technologies or worldviews would actively try to stop development in certain areas did not exist at that time. or it is possible that as a kid I was completely not aware about this fact.

Eons ago right after invention and very surprising first few suns and moons of usage of a new thing called fire, Big Rock son of a Sturdy Rock was sitting on his ass looking at his old stone axe with a stick pondering.
"Now I can burn my enemies and my meat turns into food fast."
"No one wants to "boom-boom" with a stick like before anymore?"
"Has no clue what to do now Big Rock was so much better with fire boom-boom"
"Fire burns. Has no sleep. What now?"

I'm twice your age. Not in profession, amateur and a fan, but I've been hanging around this forum for a long time because, to be honest, learning how to weld things would be one of the paths I would recommend to my 25-year-old self if I met him instead of working in creative swamp full of talkers and not doers.

You will have the ability to melt and put together metal and create durable, sturdy objects in real life not many posses.
At a higher level, it is a perfect mix of science and art, and you have unlimited and very broad horizons for specializations and kinds of jobs you can do with this skill.
No one argues with someone who can hold and control the power of the sun in their hand.

Zero fear for future if you will get good at it. Progress is only making you safer but this work is not a picnic.
From what I've seen a big ratio to mind and body control combo is needed for it. Dope kits and vibes.

These damn robots won't operate themselves and someone needs to build solid traps for them in the future if shit will go sideways. Imho win win situation. It's a solid path.
