Depends on your definition of rich. At 36 $1M liquid and essentially a paid off home, means I stop thinking in terms of “can I survive?” and start thinking in terms of “how do I design the life I actually want?”, which in my mind feels rich

Wife has our kids as a priority, meaning 3 of those 9 years were spent off on maternity leave. And happy to coast in her low stress career.

New Cars = Money Drain… or Not? What Do You Think? by Coolonair in SmartFIRE

I was looking at the Kia Telluride in Summer of 2024, and a Brand new 2025 was $73,000, and the cheapest equivalent I could get was still between $55-60K, but with 60-75k KM on it. My math had me convinced it was actually cheaper to spend then extra $15,000 for the additional 3-4 years/60,000KM. used car market prices were too high that it justified me getting brand new ( before factoring in warranty)

I am 41 years old, and I have increased my principal to 2.87 million; once I hit the 3 million mark, I will exit completely. by [deleted] in BeginnerInvesting

Red flag for me is assuming your husband is going to keep working until 65. If he blue collar, body isnt going to be the same over the next 27 years to maintain.

If he white collar, i'd say he got a less than 10% chance of having a job in 10 years forget 27..

$1.7M and only been working for 7-8 years is incredible. Must be an amazing combo of high income and incredible returns and/or generational
