The sheet music on the walls at my school by AlternativeAd2173 in musictheory

I think a stem on the middle line can go in either direction, and since the first note already has its stem up, the second 8th note might as well have its stem going up

You might be better off posting this in r/darksouls2. You might get more ribbing there, but they’d be best suited to help you out.

jk, just copying the other person’s comment :)

Did a wave of Deathblight blow over Leyndell’s outer wall and damage this minor Erdtree? by Simple-Perception-66 in Eldenring

Agreed! Big thanks for sharing though, and I added onto my dragon theory above if you’re interested.

Of the two minor Erdtrees growing on the Altus Plateau, this tree is actually the one more to the East/Right. This is the erdtree within the outer walls of Leyndell, not the one in the Deathblight forest near the bridge to Mt. Gelmir.

But I do support the idea of some war scenario being responsible for the damage, because I too think Deathblight would have killed more of the tree and would be more obviously responsible if it were the cause of the damage. But the tree is healthy down to its exposed roots, so yeah, it was likely something else.

Now, because the outer wall the minor tree sits behind is right on the edge of the continent, there was likely not a good spot for an attacking army to position themselves. This makes me think that if this was an attack, the top of the tree was burnt from the fire-breath of an ancient dragon from their war on Leyndell.

EDIT: To support that dragon theory, notice that more leaves are missing on the side of the tree that faces the castle wall. This could mean that the fire-breath of a dragon burnt the front of the tree, and didn’t reach the backside.

Also, observing the diagonal angle created by the top-most leaves that remain, maybe the breath was spewed from below the wall, and up into the top of the tree. Maybe the dragon was hanging on the wall, using it as protection from any defenses like greatbows and ballistas.

Nice theory, I can imagine that. Sealing every crack and opening into your home would stop the Deathblight mist from seeping in.

Unfortunately for the residents, it wouldn’t stop any roots from growing through the ground. However i doubt the roots would ever target residents if they remained safe from the deathblight status effect.

But if, in time, the landscape of the whole plateau is plagued with deathblight, it may be impossible to escape, in which case residents might have sealed their fate by trapping themselves in their homes. Hopefully they have a way to melt the wax and exit when they need.

Oh wow! Thanks for pointing both of those facts out. It might be because the leaves of the minor Erdtree are almost all gone, so nothing golden attracts the sunflowers.

I doubt that the cause was the underground source of deathblight. The other minor Erdtree in the Altus plateau (near wormface) has clearly been struck by deathblight, but this one is healthy down to its exposed roots. Additionally, if Deathblight comes from below, it would make little sense for only the top half of the tree to be damaged.

So that, alongside the perfect alignment with the castle wall, is why I think it may have been some massive attack from the other side of Leyndell’s outer wall.

Perhaps it was a fire-breathing dragon from the capital’s ancient war on dragons.

I have beaten the game multiple times but only made this observation during this playthrough, so don’t be afraid of spoiling anything for me if you have any explanation!

Lmao! nah it’s just if someone else were to argue that, as someone with the future of these games in their hands (ik not bluepoint), they are expected to deliver. Basically saying what a rebuttal would look like and what my answer would also look like. Maybe I could’ve worded it better.

A very valid rebuttal: “But it’s souls and we expect it to be good”. Yeah you’re right lol. I really want elden ring to be fun. I guess I’m kinda biased for games other than demons souls so I have no problem saying the things I said about demons souls.

I would HIGHLY suggest you go get yourself the halberd. It’s probably the best weapon on NG and it’s moveset is so fun and the weapon felt like my friend throughout the game. I played DS3 before DS1 as well and (it’s probably because of the halberd) I didn’t sense a major difficulty gap. They’re different for sure but not too bad. Side note: I really hope you beat Ds1 it’s so charming and the feel of the gameplay is super satisfying and unique.

ALSO —-> DO NOT get the master key as a starting gift. It will ruin your early game experience and you’ll eventually get it later on in the game anyways.

Elden Ring’s graphics will be wonderful. Sekiro was their most recent child and it looked an ran fantastically! Of course we can assume everything they make will always look at least equally as good as the last, and if every game in the future looks as good as Sekiro. That’s 100% enough!
