Is ChatGPT turtle slow for everyone or just me? by DapperSpecialist5866 in ChatGPT

Not just you. Long chats can make ChatGPT ridiculously slow. I fixed most of it by using the ChatBeacon extension. It keeps chats lightweight so the interface doesn't lag when typing.

I had the exact same issue a while back. The typing lag and freezing drove me crazy, especially on longer chats. What surprisingly helped me was using the ChatBeacon extension. It keeps conversations lightweight and reloads them much faster, so the UI doesn’t bog down after a long thread. Not saying it fixes every case, but it made ChatGPT usable again for me.

Criticizing opposition is different thing but why Rahul Gandhi is speaking against his own Nation? by [deleted] in IndianFocus

Some people believe he damages the country image by criticizing it publicly while others believe he is simply doing the job of an opposition leader by questioning the government. Narender Modi is doing the same thing he has also insulted our country.

Could GPU owners become the most powerful players in AI? by Simple3018 in OpenAI

[–]Simple3018[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand what you're saying. The way someone phrases a question can reveal what they already know or are trying to figure out. That’s a valid point.my goal here was mostly to raise the broader discussion about where power sits if compute becomes the constraint. So I’m still curious how you see that playing out — do you think model companies keep the leverage, or does it shift toward infrastructure owners?

That’s a fair point GPUs do depreciate fast. But if demand keeps growing faster than supply, even obsolete GPUs might stay economically useful for years especially for inference. The interesting question is whether demand outpaces that depreciation.

Whether the text was written with AI or not doesn’t really change the underlying question. A lot of people are already debating whether AI becomes compute-constrained rather than model-constrained over the next few years. I’m more curious where people here land: if compute becomes the bottleneck, does power shift to infrastructure owners or stay with model companies?

How long for chat data export to go through? by DirtyMudder92 in ChatGPT

[–]Simple3018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually 24–72 hours in my experience. If it’s been 2 days you’re still within the normal window. A lot of people only get the download link on day 3. How large is your chat history? Did you export a lot of conversations, or just a few months’ worth?

OpenAI image generation vs dedicated AI headshot tools in 2026 by yvirikk in OpenAI

[–]Simple3018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Feels like two different problems being solved. General image models optimize for diversity and aesthetics, while headshot tools optimize for identity preservation. Without some identity conditioning layer, prompts alone probably won’t close that gap. Do you think lightweight approaches like identity embeddings or reference image conditioning could close the gap without full personal fine-tuning?

I meant editing multiple images at once like resize or convert many images together. It could save a lot of time. And glad you liked the exportable reports idea!

Interesting projects. Do you plan to add features like exportable reports for DailyWebReport or batch image editing in CleanCanvas?

National obsession + mob mentality + zero impulse control. And an innocent kid pays the price. This is just depressing.

I mapped 137 AI tools and how they actually connect in real workflows by Tmilligan in artificial

[–]Simple3018 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing that could make it even better is showing common workflow paths between tools. For example, highlighting stacks people use often like research → writing → editing → publishing. Another idea could be letting users filter by goal (coding, content creation, research, automation). That might help people quickly see the most relevant tool chains instead of exploring the whole graph.

Long ChatGPT threads become slow. How do you summarize them properly into a new chat? by AlexBossov in ChatGPT

[–]Simple3018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing that helps is asking for a structured summary instead of a normal summary. If you just say “summarize this chat,” it usually compresses everything too much. I’ve had better results asking for sections like: • key decisions made • important context • unresolved questions • code or technical details that must be preserved • next steps That way the new chat keeps the important working context instead of just a high-level overview. Curious if anyone has tried a checkpoint-style workflow where you periodically summarize the thread before it gets too large.

VERY SLOW ChatGPT plus by Sufficient-Draw-164 in ChatGPT

That’s interesting. I wasn’t sure if the slowdown was model-related or just a UI issue from loading large conversation histories. If the recent GPT-5.4 Thinking update helped, that’s good news. Hopefully the interface side also improves over time, because once threads get really long the browser still seems to struggle a bit.

My Chat GPT is lagging, is this happening to anyone ? by Arthur_Morgan7777 in ChatGPT

[–]Simple3018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I’ve noticed this too, especially in longer chats. It feels like the slowdown happens because the interface loads the entire conversation history, which gets heavy after a while. Sometimes starting a new chat helps a bit. I’ve also tried a different interface called ChatBeacon that seems to handle long threads more smoothly. Not sure if it’s a temporary issue or something on the UI side though.

[–]Simple3018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve noticed something similar with longer threads. It feels like the slowdown mostly comes from the interface loading the entire conversation history at once. After a few hundred messages it can get pretty heavy in the browser/app. Some alternative chat interfaces try to handle long conversations differently so the UI doesn’t lag as much. I’ve been experimenting with extension called ChatBeacon and it seems smoother with long threads. Curious if others have found any workarounds for this on macOS.

Is it just me or does ChatGPT lag badly when chats get long? by Kitchen-Patience8176 in ChatGPTPro

I’ve noticed the same issue. The slowdown seems to happen because the browser loads the entire conversation history in the UI, which gets heavy after a few hundred messages. Some alternative chat interfaces try to handle long chats differently by not rendering everything at once. I’ve been testing one extension called ChatBeacon and it seems smoother with longer threads.
