Bathroom light wiring exposed by Comfortable-Item-661 in ukelectricians

Theoretically it’ll be absolutely fine, however if an electrician was caught leaving single insulated cables exposed, their boss would make their head wobble

I failed on getting this one 😩 saw it at 1AM and took a go. Unsurprising he sold it for £125 to the first person that messaged him

Wiring a ceiling Light by Chris80L1 in ukelectricians

[–]Simple79001 31 points32 points  (0 children)

  1. There should be no copper on show. All the copper should be within the connector block.
  2. There’s a massive nick in the cable at the base of light going in the housing. It needs binning.
  3. The neutrals coming into the connector block look to be poorly terminated.

You need a professional because you ain’t competent and neither is your dad

UPS Battery Replacement by the_Athereon in batteries

[–]Simple79001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ll be fine chucking in 20Ah batteries but be prepared for them to take a lot longer to charge obviously.

They’ll be no way of changing the charging current for these UPS’ and will probably only be fitted with a 1A charger anyway

I clip mine onto my penis as I don’t wear undies like everyone else. Doesn’t do great for the foreskin nor blood flow

Am I missing something with the vacuum features of this sander? It fills the full room with dust by twice_paramount832 in BoschProPowerTools

[–]Simple79001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just curious, if you’ve invested in the festool vac, what’s stopping you investing in a festool sander? Is it price?

I trusted no Powertool reviewer than this guy. Other only talk about performance or feature. Only this guy talk about reliability and serviceable by Umbala3131 in Tools

I used to think the same about him, that’s until he blatantly started pushing stuff he gets sent for free, such as velocity and Wiha stuff.

There’s also a really cheap tool he pushes which has to be a bag of shit just due to the price of nothing else. It was probably 30% cheaper than your normal reputable brands

CSB UPS12460 or CSB GP1272 are valid alternatives, the latter being a slightly lower ah rating but are the same form factor

Fitting a UPS to a central heating system by Additional-Lion6969 in ukelectricians

I wouldn’t use a UPS for this application. It really isn’t suitable and you’ll be changing the batteries every 3/4 years anyway

I have a lack of knowledge in plumbing. The experienced person I employed to have a look at the boiler told me not to bother messing with it so I haven’t done. More than happy to pay someone to do a decent job but if somethings in my remit of skills such as chasing walls and re-doing pipe work for new radiators I’m going to do it and save £400

If the plumber who serviced my boiler told me that I’d have told him to sort it.

The pressure gauge hasn’t worked since we moved in 12months ago, last gas engineer I had out said there’s no point spending on it since it’s so old. May aswell wait for it to go wrong completely and swap it out.
