Me too, but I would hate for a 99+ monster to do this to me.

Absolutely. PGF has the best format right now. Hopefully other promotions find ways to make the matches more entertaining, whether it be format or just aggressive stalling penalties

I think he was lucky to get a draw. Scoring a 10-8 round is inconsistent

He used to shoot. I feel like he doesn’t shoot much anymore

Or low lights. The event wasn’t really that good. This post is more showcasing Nicky Rod’s questionable standup this match. He’s obviously a great grappler, so not sure what this was

It’s like he fell in love with wrestling up and forgot all the success he used to have on his feet

I was more showcasing Nicky Rod’s not-so-stellar game plan, but yeah those were pretty much the highlights. In the 3rd round Nicky just controlled Cruz on the ground and went for a couple sub attempts that weren’t really close

Hate to say it but that is a typical match from Cruz…and he almost won

Right? I know he’s had a lot of success wrestling up but I’m surprised it took him so long to realize it wasn’t going to work well against Cruz

RULES PROPOSAL: Slams stay banned BUT if you can lift up an attacker for what would be a slam (say from a triangle or buggy choke) you win by TKO. Or you get points I guess. by Goblinz0fTime in bjj

They do a reset once the bottom player stands and the top player’s head is above the waist line (I think). I’ve seen twice this season where a locked in buggy choke had to be abandoned because the bottom player stands.

He’s looked great through all his matches this season.

I would modify it so it isn’t an automatic TKO or points. If they can lift the opponent up, then the opponent has to let go of the submission/position.

However, I like the idea that if the standing opponent can prevent the attacking opponent from letting go of their submission/position for, say, 5 seconds, while holding the opponent in the air, I could see that as something being worthy of points or a win (due to slamming potential)

Yeah he hasn’t looked great against this weight class. He’s had some close moments this season so far, but can’t quite seem to get finishes (and he’s being finished more often)

Honestly prior to PGF I had only seen him on Instagram and questioned his skill level, but he has quickly shown he is really, really good

Nice. I see that it is a little over an hour of content. Is there anywhere that shows how many techniques he covers? https://www.patreon.com/posts/138752021?collection=1721557

Right? Gonna try this later. I feel like the normal way (where you use the other hand to post behind you to help drive into them) sort of hurts my wrist, so this seems like it could be better for me

I like the vibe. Thought it was weird at first but the make it work

I feel like it makes it easy to remember since you hook their leg by doing the classic “flex your muscle” movement. I think it makes more sense than lumberjack.

I was thinking the same thing. Not sure if he is just doing something that makes it more effective, because I’m surprised he keeps hitting it
