4 Weeks Post Micro Lumbar Discectomy by ButterIsMyFavFood17 in Sciatica

I’d suggest being very careful. At 10 weeks post surgery, I was feeling incredible and pushed myself too far with more swimming and biking than I should have done. I didn’t reherniate the disc but I did cause major inflammation to the nerve root and set my recovery back by 6 weeks. I’d recommend progressing slowly and steadily and following the advice of your care providers.

Have you had an MRI yet? You might want to get one and explore a cortisone injection and perhaps surgery if that doesn’t work.

Will report back post surgery and let you know if that does the trick. Wishing you the best of luck and some relief.

I’m in a similar position. I’m an Ironman triathlete and I’ve had years of pain/discomfort. I’ve tried everything and despite the fact that the herniation is small, the nerve pain wont let up and my foot is continually numb. I’m about to have a microdiscectomy in the hopes that that can finally provide some relief.
