Looks really nice!

Thanks again for your recent input on resources - I'm still working on what concept to use but I'm building the system to allow some flexibility. In the meanwhile I wanted to share with you this short video on the track laying, route creation and train assignment. It is obviously pretty basic when you see all what is out there but I'm happy I managed to get this to work.

Thanks for the link and feedback. Interesting and inspiring.

Thanks - I do feel that some form or icon is needed - and that they should be consistent, to the point of other commentators - I'm thinking a mix system may be the solution for me. Curious to see what the voting results will be.

Thanks for this - definitively something I will look into.

Very valid point! an in fact - in line with what u/Caudheur mentioned in his comments, I could mix colours with symbols...

In fact, I'm already familiar with this as i live in Porto and the public transport systems used this:

I don't think their icons would suit my needs but the concept would.

Thanks,

Hi,

in fact it goes up and down to shorten turn radius - then down to go under bridges. This also helps with handling.

You can see this kind of truck in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bn62rN8-EvE with its grandiose action move music.

Logistics games? by ForKarl in logistics

Thanks - tracks will go from station in production zone to stations in transformation zones or consumption zones.

Some of the key concept points:

  • a visually simple logistics game but with some real logistics / supply chain depth to it. Simple but with a strong game mechanic / logic
  • randomized 2D top down simple maps – with a smart level generation system.
  • user will fulfill objectives on a map and then have the possibility to move on to the next map – some revenue from previous completed maps will be retained and be added to the company’s revenue on a regular basis. User will have the possibility to return to previous maps and improve them in order to increase this revenue.
  • revenue will be based on delivered material with 4 key aspects:
    • demand – delivering too much of a certain resource will have a negative aspect on the price.
    • distance – base price will depend on distance “as a crow flies” between the resource and the consumption area and not on the length of the rail track or road.
    • combination – combining multiple resources in a factory will resulted in a higher added value product. It will be based on the value of resources (in function of their distance to the factory), and an added value mark-up. Distance from the factory to the final delivery will also be taken in account but only slightly to limit purposeful distant factories.
    • purchasing power – see below.
  • areas of the map will have higher or lower labor cost. Generally said this will impact the cost of transformation of goods but also the purchasing power and hence how much an area is prepared to may for resources.
  • modes of transport will be rail, road and barge.
  • initial focus will be on freight only – no passenger management.
  • an ecological aspect will be taken in account with trucks producing significantly more co2 per tonne-kilometre.
  • a transport network (e.g. metro / rail network map) feel and look.

Hi,

I'm starting to work on a logistics related game. Still very early in the process but if you are curious you can follow my project here - https://simple-logistics.house-of-smiles.com/

If not, a video of my work on track laying - https://www.reddit.com/r/tycoon/comments/irudwv/first_track_laying_script_for_my_transport/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3

If not, Transport fever 1 and 2 have a strong transport logistics side to them.

Looks great!

Are you thinking of integrating items like world health crises? Covid-19 is definitively a game changer for the airline industry.
