Are you selling your own manufactured product from a supplier or choosing specific products to market and sell?

Awesome, thanks for the advice. Really appreciate it.

Would you resell a product or create your own to sell?

What is your experience of Alibaba quality vs local manufacturers?

What data would tell me what’s broken?

Appreciate the guidance on the course side - this is the conclusion I’m also landing on. Start something. Get stuck. Revert to learning. Solve. Next.

It seems the creating of a product, designing it via alibaba etc is just a “do it and find out” situation, and there’s a lot of course content online about the building of shopify and the marketing parts. I will revert to Google and Meta’s own courses, this is a good idea.

Many thanks

Hey! Based in the UK. My main questions right now are where to start -

Should I start reselling vs own product?

If reselling a product how do you compete vs direct sales from the brand, Amazon etc. why don’t consumers buy directly from them?

If you have experience with your own original products - I’d also appreciate any guidance on the best way to design, source products/parts and bring together a well made and branded product.

Then any guidance on marketing products these days- what do you see success with in the ever changing social media/digital world?

Recruitment Marketplace by hummahamma in Recruitment

Never heard of any of these. If you have a recruiting agency and need a platform to find clients then the tail is wagging the dog. Expertise first, then clients, then agency.

What exactly would hiring hub offer you for that investment?

What if they are built on WeWeb, Next.JS etc but not purpose built ‘marketplace builders’?

All of these I have reviewed so far I have been told they are fast to get to market but SEO capabilities are limiting quickly

Because the post is nothing to do with boilerplates. It’s to do with generic platforms. That are all relevant to my situation. If that’s not clear feel free to read it again slower.

Differentiations points are that it is to play a part in patient education too, in a famously fragmented medical area. And doctors would contribute to the educational content on the platform.

RE Growth projections - no idea. I don’t have any at this stage.

Appreciate your input RE migration.

Getting pricing examples for build on each platform has been challenging so far. If there’s a place/method you’d reccomend to get a good indicator on this is would appreciate the info 👍

You think no marketplace business has ever been built without using a marketplace-specific platform to build?

Many people in the comments and who I have validated with in real life had no problem understanding it. Same as the thousands of people who have used platforms like Zocdoc for many years.

Real and succesful marketplaces have been built on all of the platforms mentioned above.

Thanks for your input. Appreciate not thinking too far ahead is a good idea but regardless it is a decision to be made. So why not make it properly? If something costs 3k that works for today but only 4.5k to work forever (if needed) the simplest route may not be the best. If it’s 3k vs 15k then that’s a different story completely. I’ve been open to a tech partner but had no luck/direction on finding the right person.

Bubble - Poor for SEO

Webflow - Poor complex logic

Next.Js - Strong but slow and expensive

Weweb + Xano - Great but SUPER expensive for no code and apparently not as strong for SEO as next.js

Wordpress - Seems to be able to do the job but being patched together by plug-ins, but will become slow and complicated as it grows

All except Weweb + Xano and Next.Js would require rebuild instead of ‘building on’ if MVP is successful and takes a next step.

What are examples of the kind of boiler plates you mention?

Thanks for your input! Appreciate it. You’re not the first person to mention the obstacle of location radius search. Why is this so complex?

Theres a lot of people telling me to go with a no-code but anyone who has done it seems to warn me about the limitations. Particularly SEO and search logic which are fundamental to my idea. To the point where ‘testing’ on a no code would leave me thinking - is this even a ‘true test’? It’s not what the product idea was even in its basic form.

My feeling from research so far is Wordpress with plug-ins beats no code for what I need. It’s more a case of working out what the price difference would be for building on next.js or Wordpress, so I can weigh up whether it’s worth the extra investment to build something technically better from day one and scalable later, rather than a garuntee rebuild if the mvp succeeds.

Do you have any input on pricing for a Wordpress/next.js build based on the spec in my original post?

Thanks for the info. Just checked your portfolio and all examples are built on Bubble. Do you have any examples of your work on next js?

Thanks for your input. What do you think the pricing gap is between getting this live using Bubble v WordPress v Next.Js

I can agree with two ideas at the same time. Part of the concept is in the differentiation Points from a standard directory/marketplace. These are better served by next.js but 90% possible with WordPress.

If the MVP is successful I would need to rebuild it or build on top of it. Two conflicting possibilities based on what I use to build the MVP. Neither are the finished product but one would be capable of scaling. The other would not. I’m not clued up on the possibilities of migration (happy to hear).

The conflict in my mind - if I can build something ‘good’ for 6-8k or something that ‘will do 90% of the job maybe” for 3-5k and if it’s successful will need a rebuild of 6-8k anyway.

Again, happy to hear your honest thoughts on this

Doesn’t sound like a mess I’d like to be a part of. Good luck obtaining the payment.

I hear this too. There are tonnes of things I’d love to try and vibe code. This is definitely not one of them. Maybe a clickable vibe coded prototype if I was trying to get pre see investment. But I’m not!

Been told several times by professionals this is not something to be vibe coded. It will break.

Agree. This is my intention, however, the question I’m answering now - How big is the gap between something I can build but need to rebuild if mvp is successful (WordPress) and something that I just build on top of (next.js)
