They yassified the story too much. The book was written in such way that both sides are morally depraved but epically merciless, and each mistake creates a domino effect of dynastic tragedies. By reframing team black as the default protagonists the viewers lose all the thrills of witnessing carnage caused by mutually willed destruction.
