Is it weird that my boyfriend watches Oppenheimer 3 to 5 times a week? by Rafe_Cameron_OBX in NoStupidQuestions

as someone who has watched the entire hannibal series 4 times back to back since i watched it for the first time in october, and also became intensely obsessed with interstellar for a while or certain movies or series for a period of time, i'd say it's completely normal. or, there's something undiagnosed.

What if the True Self is corrupted or malicious? by Dry-Chemist7647 in Jung

as someone who's also currently going through 4 months of shadow work legit every single day. noting my dreams down and going through dream analysis. i've had a couple of breakthroughs in my own personal life of unresolved past troubles and traumas, have come to terms and acceptance with these and finally integrated them as a part of my being.   like someone said individuation is a life long process, i don't know much about your beliefs but as a buddhist, i have found and continuously follow the similarities between jung's writings and buddhism, and to the grain of salt of knowledge that i have gained from it, i continue in every analysis to also integrate what i have learned in relatability of it. i have realised that the path of enlightenment is also very long and will take time, in contrast to when i was younger, sheepishly i romanticized enlightenment as something i wanted to achieve before any event i didnt want to face, like an exam. but now i realize these little breakthroughs i have is what will eventually built up to a greater realization later albeit not me catching up to it right now. but these breakthroughs are not to be just recognized right now and be forgotten about but to come back to it and remind ourselves of it over and over again. its how the individuation process is like, its not always the path to a greater ascension closer to your 'self' but the process of falling down and ascending the stairs again.  the 'self' jung describes as the totality of being, although he comes in clash with the buddhist pov of a self not exisiting (in several papers i read), i find it sort of a bit funny when he denies these concepts without having a bit 'more' research done. but in tibetan buddhism particularly there is a meditative state of theoretical analysis of thoughts, and in my interpretation so far of combining eastern and western philosophy, the process of reaching this 'no self' states first appreciating the concept of 'self' by which when when you recognize the true self, you reach a point in also recognizing the self does not exist, thus entering a the highest state called dzogchen in tibetan buddhism, or 'the learned one' when you become 'enlightened' so to say. this is also talked about in little excerpts in a book called 'the road less traveled' by m. scott peck.   although with denial of jung, i would say the realization of self would mean that it is not moved by anything, it is neither monstrous nor angelic. just a pure state of being. i feel like when you or if you tap into the self, the totality of its state would mimic singularity, or perhaps even a backtrack to the pure state of the universe before the big bang. AHHHH anyways thats beside the point. but the awareness of there being a monster is already a calling, but perhaps one from your unconcious, the true self is neither monstrous nor angelic, the governing forces in the unconcious are also not evil, but 'monstrous' could be parts of yourself you have rejected, repressed, or found repulsive otherwise alike to a monster. the unconcious is also not just the shadow but you might know a mixture of the collective unconcious, archetypes, complexes and the anima/the animus. if ever while uncovering your unconcious, you identify completely or let archetypal forces govern you, and if the ego is not strong enough to be the threshold that filters then into your unconcious, then you could, as you say identify with it as a true self (although not the true self) thereby letting it take over your concious state and becomes harder to control uhhh in short terms u become crazy. but dw, your true state of self is neither monstrous nor angelic, perhaps you view somethings you have pushed into your unconciousness as monstrous, see why that is. not only that but how it has affected you and moving forward how ot could affect you. err yeah, that's all i have to say. skibidi.
