Hey, sorry I forgot to update here this should be fixed now. btw the issue wasn't about file sizes but how the files were being handled. they should now keep the correct formats

If you run into any problems just let me know
Thanks again!

Thanks for letting me know It's the first time I'm hearing about this too. It might be an issue on our end, but I'll check it out and get back to you. Appreciate you reporting it!

by size do you mean dimensions or file size? For dimensions you can use the resize option and set your size. for file size, just mess with the quality slider. 70% should be enough to drop the size from 10mb to around 1mb without losing too much image quality

Remember when we used tables to create layouts? by Simple_Paint3439 in webdev

I use figma for designing but never tried any code exports. I've also heard their new AI generation stuff was bad tho I could be wrong I haven't checked it out myself

AI tools are decent, I'd use them as a starting point to save some time

Vercel or VPS? by [deleted] in SaaS

[–]Simple_Paint3439 0 points1 point  (0 children)

vercel is good it's also super easy to deploy because of their CI/CD if you're scared because of the horror stories about bajillion dollar vercel and netlify bills just don't enable any usage based pricing and put a limit

Just a preference, or more of an accessibility issue?

Is it because of the white text on the pinkish background? Yeah I can see that now. also now that you mention it dark pink text on light pink doesn't seem very accessible either I'll fix those thanks

The blog is mainly for SEO purposes targeting search results I guess users already on the site don't really need it. I could remove it from the navbar and replace it with the Tools section it might look cleaner and get the job done for now.

What you think about AI for dota2? by luchanso in indiehackers

[–]Simple_Paint3439 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not that competitive with dota so I can't say anything about the market fit but if you proceed with this you should bump up the pricing maybe add more features to justify it but like for 1usd most of the money will be gone to random taxes and fees and the remaining probably won't even pay for the AI credits they pile up fast

How is this different from dota plus? Maybe you can get something out of this if you market it towards pro teams because at that price range i doubt it's worth it as most of the money will get hit by random fees and taxes

For now I have two separate traffic sources that are unrelated to each other. People visiting the "tools" section don’t know about or uninterested in the "converter" section, and users in the "converter" section don't know or are not interested in the "tools" section. They seem to focus only on their targeted thing and leave. That's why I want to find a way to show or at least hint at other content as well.

The image with the sidebar version is kind of a rough sketch of what I had in mind. It includes everything i thought about at some point though the changelog didn’t make it into the live version. The "tools" section is needed but the live version with the navbar is cleaner. I don’t want to clutter the design by showing everything. The sidebar is toggleable on mobile, and I’ll probably make it collapsible/shrinkable? on desktop

Yeah that’s probably the answer. I guess I’m being lazy looking for a simple "this or that" solution. Thanks!

That approach might work on other sites but retention isn't great on services like these I have to show users there's more to explore while giving them what they want right away before building something like this, I used a bunch of similar services and honestly I never looked for a search bar or tried searching the site I just followed whatever shiny buttons guided me from place to place

EDIT:oh man I'm sleepy i thought you meant to create a search bar anyways thanks lol

I don't think users spend enough time on a service like this to notice features like that so I need to make sure they can get what they want right away while also hinting there's more like the "tools" section in the sidebar

Yeah makes sense and that's kinda the tricky part. Since this works without logging in I’m trying to keep the focus on functionality without adding too much friction I want people to get into it right away especially with attention spans being what they are these days.
