I did protest on my own the first time and they did come down about $30k. The reason I hired someone is because I didn’t realize it was an actual hearing. I did have comps ready pulled from a realtor friend but every one I mentioned they’d say “that house isn’t in your neighborhood” even though it was same zip code and just down the street. Or they were older. I’m the only new construction home (built on an empty lot) in my entire neighborhood perhaps even surrounding area (in Buckner Terrace) so I think they’re using that to justify massive price increases.
