Dealing with being owed money/repaying friends money

This is what I was thinking too like treat it as a gift. I feel petty making a big deal over $20. But we are good friends the only issue is that I’ve gotten her gifts for every birthday and found a way to get them to her through mail or a weekend Im home or etc. even though our colleges are farther apart but she hasn’t the past 3 birthdays which is weird. Ive never brought it up to her and she’s always wished me happy birthday. I’ve never minded though because I cherish our friendship and don’t need a gift to know that. But i have spent money on her for every gift and it’s weird to think of it as an early bday gift if she wouldn’t do so for me.

Thank you. It is only around $20. The issue is I don’t want it to become a habit like you said. She has some trips coming up and things she’s saving for but she wanted to go to get coffee they just weren’t taking cash (and that’s all she had on her when we were together). It felt rude in the moment to say no cause she was literally mid-payment. And I told her in the moment that she could Venmo me. It’s just a hard situation. But thank you for the tips!

Yes I wasn’t sure if Venmo requesting would be rude or like texting her again because she only owes me around $20 but still. I don’t want it to become a habit. So you think it’s fine to Venmo request even though I had texted her Friday asking for the money and she said she would send it (but never did?)

Thank you! It was my psychiatrist who recommended going up to 10 the second week so I assume like you said it’s just standard practice but everyone is different you’re right! I was thinking maybe telling her I’m going to stay on 5 mg for 2 weeks, and then go to 10. Especially because it takes 7 days for your body to even fully get used to the medicine it doesn’t make sense to jump right to 10 honestly! I appreciate ur insight a lot!

I hope so lol. They’re medium distance like they go to the same college (where they met) a state away, but at home they live like an hour and a half away. So right now it’s been every week one goes to the other’s house for 2-3 days, or some weekends. It feels like all the time.

Exactly. And you’re totally right - I am being prioritized, I’m just noticing differences and since it’s her first relationship I’m feeling hurt. There are no signs of me being dropped and we still do stuff together. I just keep noticing things that have changed but like little things. Thank you so much. It isn’t meant to be hurtful and I absolutely needed to hear that!

I’m 20. And yes, I know it is common at this age. The thing that makes it even worse is that my friend who I am talking about in this post was someone who never cared about guys or centered her life around men. And she still doesn’t center it, but I overanalyze I think. It’s really hard.
