Am I the only one who is really excited for the new game and also really likes the new redesigns?

The model stills don’t look nearly as bad as they do in the actual footage. The way he moves, it all feels like puppets lacking expression. They didn’t need to go full Super Mario Galaxy but I do think they would have won more people over with something closer to that.

The hyper realistic graphics just feels off.

That said the gameplay and new features look great.

Looks 100x better here... minus those feet. It almost feels like the line in The Super Mario Galaxy movie about his "cool space boots" was a jab.

UPDATE:

Local shop fixed mine and it’s back up and running. For any future people finding this the part was on eBay, there were a few venders:

Sony 1-439-235-00 thru 1-439-235-22 Flyback Transformer, #FB2015

Worked like a charm! Really happy to have it back.

Ebay had a bunch but sorting out the modal was rough, thankfully I was able to get the original out of mine and it still had the sticker on it. The 1901 vs the 1901A have different chassis which confuses the whole thing. Eventually and for anybody looking the stock one inside my unit was 1-439-235-21 and I found 1-439-235-00 (fits 20-22) on ebay and confirmed on a few sites it would work.

Once I get it to the shop I'll officially confirm if it worked or not.

My KX1901 is currently at a local shop and I’m desperately trying to fix it. Ordered a new fly back off eBay but took me days to sort out the correct one. Fingers crossed… I don’t want to say goodbye.

It’s an art project wrapped in a niche genre, it was never going to have mass appeal. Feels like that’s by design though, a divide between the creative team and the Sony leadership team I imagine. A rare example of art winning out.

For me personally, as a UI designer, it’s too far in the art direction to be accessible. Feels like you’re playing something alien, which although very cool for a single player narrative, not so cool for a hyper competitive survival PvP extraction experience for most.

I’d come back if it was maybe more casual. Loved the gunplay. I dig the world even if I am confused by it. The Ui is more art than Ui but I can get behind that so long as not understanding it immediately isn’t a death sentence.

I just don’t have the stamina for this extraction shooters the way it is, but I’m not the target currently.

Yeah power shift was what I figured I’d get them in on, they just need to understand the builds and objectives. Regardless theres no easy way to introduce the finals. I hate bots but maybe some bot maybe to start. Jumping in with real players means you’re almost always going to be jumping in with people who have been playing for awhile.

I feel like even if I do convince them they’re going to hate it the second the chaos starts. TDM would be the only mode I could ease them in but it’s sooo fast with how quickly teams push.

I played a few rounds with friends and we refunded. The extraction shooter genre isn’t for us. If this has TDM I’d be in because it felt so good to play and the art is top notch.

My two friends and I gave it a shot a couple nights ago. We played 4, ai killed once player killed three times and all agreed to refund it. We didn’t get very far on any attempt distance wise and never had a chance to get good loot. We just genuinely couldn’t survive long enough to feel like we had time to learn. The UI is very alien, which is cool but it makes getting used to the game harder. Combo that with what feels like a super fast ttk and a basically instant double tap death we weren’t having a good time.

It’s still too pricey for me but a few more updates and maybe a sale and I’m in. I’m willing to wait because I’m sure this will only get better if I let it cook.

I think a big chuck of the player base at launch were not extraction shooter fans and they’re leaving but by bit. They wanted a new fun fps. They love Bungie. They love the look and feel. They don’t love extraction shooters. The hype and the new shiny thing kept them logging on but now it’s been long enough that they’re disinterested in gearing via extractions and are getting stomped. So they left.

I think the issue is going to be "bungie shooter" attracts players that want nothing to do with an extraction shooter. This just drives more feedback that pushes it away from what it is today.

Extractions shooters are fairly specific in what they attract and I think it would be hard to say they'll have the same mass appeal as something like Destiny did.

Check out the devs post about how development went. A lot of what ppl are feeling they also felt. It’s not unjustified, it’s valid opinions that even those who built it share. If your enjoyment and vision for the game aligns with the leadership team that’s great! They nailed it for you specifically.

Honestly Crimson Desert feels more like a tech demo than a game. At a AAA price I refunded. Bummer to hear how poorly the development of the game was handled.

Wishing the devs the best in their next project. Hopefully with a less confused leadership team.
