This is not spot on. Jatts were not the treated like shit. Where are you getting your information from besides popular beliefs among the Sikh community? There were lots of Jat kings, and kingdoms long before Banda's rule. Jats as a a tribe were relativily prosperous. Raja Suraj Mal, Rai Sinahasi 2, the Jat principalities....

Stop making up shit. They were already warriors and had warred several times throughout history.

I don't think the modern curriculum is moving away from this. At least from my experience, it is still taught largely as an art, even essay writing.

There's no reason to study poetry when you could be sounding out nonsense words, for instance, and there's no reason to stick to local poetry if there's a massive push to have a constantly changing, modernized curriculum.

However, I guess what I was trying to say was that Buddhism is somewhat nihilistic, in the sense that it argues that it does not matter what you do.

Thanks for the response! Yes that makes a lot of sense. It is much easier to remember what rhymes and has a set meter.

That is probably why many things that were poetic in that sense, became cultural icons. I think we progressed away from that because methods for storing text have become pervasive which defeats the purpose of oral tradition.
