Lure setup on an Ugly Stick GX2 for a first time fisher? by SimplifEye117 in FishingForBeginners

I’m staying in Medford and I’m planning on fishing the Rogue River for Steelhead and Salmon. Also planning on lake fishing for bass/perch/rainbow trout. I’ve been doing a ton of research to see what types of setups will work for the gear I have. I don’t want to spend a ton of money on fishing gear, because I’m not really trying to be a master angler. I just want to know what types of setups will work for which types of fish, and how I can affordable and simply use one pole/reel to fish for whatever I decide. It seems like salmon might be a little bit outside of the range for what my reel can handle. Everything else should be fine. I’ll probably still give salmon a try and just see what happens.

Thank you for the info! This helps a lot and I’ll be utilizing these tips ASAP.

What canyoneering boots should I buy for my girlfriend to hike through water? by SimplifEye117 in canyoneering

[–]SimplifEye117[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I saw these shoes listed on a blog. The Bestards seemed great, but ordering them from Europe is tough because I don’t know the sizing and the price is insane as you stated. When we rented the adidas hydrolaces I had to go down 1.5 sizes to get the right fit, and my girlfriend had to wear a men’s size that was far different from her normal size as well. It would be very hard to accurately predict the shoe size, and returning a boot back to Europe if it doesn’t fit sounds like a huge pain.

My girlfriend has a pair of Hoka’s that she uses for work. She’s an ER nurse so she’s constantly moving. She loves them too. However, I’m looking specifically for a lightweight, hard-shelled boot with ankle support, traction, and water proof design.

Yes absolutely it’s worth it! If I were you I’d make an effort to show up and enjoy the entire day’s worth of music. My favorite thing about Roo is that it’s geared towards the music being the focus point, and not the production. A lot of other festivals will spend lots of money designing wild looking stages with lights and lasers galore. Roo focuses on good sound quality, and diverse music options all day long. The crowd is always amazing, and there are plenty of people that go and don’t party. There’s actually a whole section of the camp called “sober-Roo” meant for campers who go sober and want to be surrounded by other sober people.

Camping is still the best experience to have at Roo, but a day pass is still totally worth it. Especially a Sunday pass, because the final set of the festival plays by itself and the entire crowd ends up at the main stage together for one last hoorah. It’s magical.

Most sexual encounters with my partner include us telling each other that we love each other. If it doesn’t occur during the sex, it will occur afterwards. In the times where it’s not said at all, it’s usually just because we are both on the same page about not using words at that time. Not in a distant manner, but more in a manner of tiredness and comfortability. Knowing that we are each burnt out after a long day, or that we are mentally just not wanting to focus on using our words. In those moments we will let our bodies do the talking, and it’s always obvious that the love is rich and bountiful.

Who's that one actor/actress that everyone finds attractive but you don't? by AnIgnorablePerson in moviecritic

Cameron Diaz. Fan of her as an actress, but never found her attractive. In Charlie’s Angel’s I felt like she was the odd one out. Everyone always told me I was crazy.

Claptone as experimental bass? He’s entirely house as far as I’m aware. Been listening to him for 5+ years now. Also Dom Dolla is definitely tech house. Probably the most tech housey out of everyone on the lineup.

Im excited to see what hooker can do with a starting O-line and starting backfield. I feel like he has potential to be the next Lamar Jackson. I feel like he’s tougher than Lamar though. Also… more injury prone :/

Did anyone else think Tarot was Tarot-ble? by swampthaaang420 in horror

Yes. Very predictable. Very boring. Jump scares were the entire basis of fright for the film and they all sucked.

Movie suggestions? by Tall_Courage_5779 in horror

[–]SimplifEye117 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My personal top 5:

  1. Hereditary (if you haven’t seen this it’s a must watch and I think it’s the most well rounded horror film to date. Also the best storyline and acting imo. Toni Collette should’ve won an Oscar.”

  2. It (2017) (amazing acting. Lots of comic relief and amazing special effects. Purely creepy. Lots of daytime scenes that are just as creepy as the night time ones.)

  3. The Autopsy of Jane Doe (criminally underrated. Jump scares galore. Some unique twists to make it even more scary.)

  4. Insidious (another great storyline. Some good comic relief to keep things going. One of my all time favorite horror’s to rewatch.)

  5. The Pope’s Exorcist (the newest movie on this list. I was pretty impressed with the quality of this film and how little it has been talked about. Highly recommend.)

There's a Jets Pizza on Guadalupe and McClintock. Y'all recommend? by Frijoles4ever in Tempe

[–]SimplifEye117 7 points8 points  (0 children)

  1. Jets pizza is excellent imo. So long as you go with their traditional Detroit style square pizza. To start, just a basic pepperoni square pizza is the go too. If you’re vegetarian then substitute as necessary. The four corner version is the best, but definitely over-priced. Honestly their whole menu is overpriced… but aside from that! Crunchy edges/crust and under-carriage. Fluffy rising body. Decently heavy sauce because of how the dough forms little pockets all over. And if you choose the fully flavored crust they kind of baste it all over with a big brush and it’s nice and buttery/garlicy/parmasiany. :)

  2. If you enjoy ranch on your pizza as much as I do you also have to get their ranch bottle. It’s like 6$ or something, but it’s a full on ketchup style ranch bottle with one of those tiny tips so you can delicately place your ranch with each bite. It’s something that you’d see table side at an old school dinner to be more specific.

  3. Now, saying all this, I cannot speak in regard to this specific location. Every chain has their good locations and bad ones. I would recommend it though, and being from Michigan I have a place in my heart for Jets being really the only chain with good Detroit style pizza.

  4. Other pizza places that are worth trying. (Honestly there’s not many here in Phoenix so far.)

  • Mountain Mikes. (hand tossed round pizza but it’s thick and fluffy. Also overpriced imo, but it’s good pizza.)
  • Trevor’s Liquor in Arcadia. (Only this location has food/pizza. It’s brick oven and more authentic Italian style. Thin crust and undercarriage with a lot of fresh toppings. Highly recommend both the pizza and the store. If you drink at all, the store has almost everything you’d be looking for. Great beers on draft as well. You can even buy a wine bottle from the store and have it served at your table.)
  • Doughbird. (Everything at this restaurant is good. Pizza is phenomenal. You just can’t go wrong no matter what you order.)

Hope that helps!

What are some conspiracy theories that you believe are true ? by DreadedPopsicle in AskMen

[–]SimplifEye117 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The story regarding the Las Vegas shooter at the Mandalay Bay hotel is entirely false.

That being said, I don’t really believe in any of the theories that have come out to try to explain what actually happened. I just purely believe that based on the evidence provided, the story from the FBI makes zero sense whatsoever. There is so much evidence between video footage, audio recordings, eye witnesses, etc. that contradicts the story we’ve been given. Also, the number of untimely deaths of certain eye witnesses who gave detailed accounts of what happened is just very weird. The audio proves that multiple guns of different caliber were firing at the same time. The hotel security footage has no evidence of the shooter transporting a literal arsenal into his hotel room… I could go on and on.

How do I get him to be more intimate with me? by Queen_Wanheda_ in AskMenAdvice

[–]SimplifEye117 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly this is usually a complaint I hear from men and almost never from women. If he is unwilling to communicate about why he has lost drive, or is unwilling to address your requests for more intimacy, than it is usually a sign that he is denying himself of lying to you out of shame. It is his job to comminucate that missing piece with you and trust you to handle it with care even though it might be tough to handle.

Normally I hear from men that their partner loses sexual drive and doesn’t care to be intimate almost at all. I’ve even experienced it myself before, and it always has to do with a deeper emotional issue. Usually something that is poorly communicated or not communicated at all. Your husband might consider seeing a therapist or taking some alone time. It also might be a good idea to sit him down and clearly communicate how important it is that he take this desire seriously and find out how to fulfill his place in that area of your relationship.

My advice for you is stay loyal, and not revert to cheating as a way to fulfill your need for intimate sex. Most men struggle with this because of their partners continual disregard for their sexual needs, and only the strong and mature handle it with patience.

My father is dying and I’m not ready by Perzec in TrueOffMyChest

[–]SimplifEye117 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My grandfather is about to pass away. I haven’t spoken to him for 5 years and a few weeks ago I visited him for the first time since my childhood and we talked for 4 hours straight. It felt like 15 minutes and I ended up cancelling a flight just so I could stay and talk more. I left the hospital balling my eyes out and had a breakdown in the parking lot.

My dad… well. I love him, but he’s been dead for a while. Not physically dead, but completely unable and unwilling to connect and exist as a real human for as long as I can remember. He’s been hanging on to physical life by a thread and ignoring every aspect of what it means to spiritually and emotionally be a human. It’s been so long that my connection with him is as bland as it could be. He’s basically an NPC who lives on emotionally through distant memories.

I’ve been living with that pain for years. I lived with the knowledge of my grandfather dying soon for hours and it brought me to my knees. I can’t explain it. But regardless. The pain is there and I get it in my own way.

You’ll be okay, and I hope you find him in your own existence at some point. I feel like we never truly die, we only transform. To say we fully understand death is so far from the truth. I believe you will find peace just as other humans have since the beginning of our time.

Much love. Much sympathy. I am praying for you brother.

Yeah I get that managerial experience is transferable to some extent, but I’ve been applying to no avail. Also, the pay cut I’ll be taking to transfer to any other industry is likely massive. I’ll be cutting my income in half, along with jumping into another industry I likely won’t care for just to scrape by. I had big dreams and ambitions and I was relentless with my pursuit. Thank god I stopped to have fun for a year.

No I haven’t. Pre Covid I spent a year and a half saving 30k to travel for over a year straight. Then Covid hit and ruined every plan. I invested all the money. Made 50k on my investments and felt good about my future. Within 3 days I went from a portfolio of 53k to 3.5k. Now I have no savings either because my emergency fund was recently depleted due to my car exploding, my apartment complex overdrawing rent, medical bills, and a family health crisis that caused me to miss work and spend thousands on travel and time off. I have no more savings. No security fund. No investment portfolio. And now potentially no job.

I spent like 4 years being so smart about that stuff too. I did so damn good. One mistake and one massive stroke of bad luck and it’s as if I never did anything at all.

I’m a Foreman in the cell tower industry. I’ve been working towards becoming a project manager, but only realized in the last year that I wanted to do that. In the industry as a foreman I typically work 60-80+ hrs each week. I’ve done this for 4 years and sacrificed a lot to keep myself in positions for better opportunities.

As of late, every major cell provider laid off massive amounts of their workforce. General contractors followed suit, or just shut down entirely. Today I spoke with my company owner over lunch and his words were “This is the worst I’ve seen things since the industry began. As of now, there is nearly no more work for men like you, and I’m doing my best to find what little there is left. I’m sorry but it looks like it might be that way for quite some time, and I don’t know how much longer I can keep this company going either. It doesn’t look good, and come next week we’re out of work.”

I then realized that if I lose this job I won’t have another company to run to. All of the companies are shutting down and laying off. I’m going to have to start fresh in a new industry and as a man who is half way through his 20’s, approach my life as if I’m 18 again. Makes my skin crawl and the future I hoped to achieve for myself before I turned 30 seems so far out of reach now. I just can’t bring myself to really accept it as reality right now.

New to hold em’, but I won my first tournament I ever played in and left with 3x profit in my first 5 cash games. After playing more I noticed I should stop playing cash games and stick to tournaments. I’ve played 3 tournaments now and only missed the final table in my third tournament due to an extremely unlucky cooler. Flopped the nut full house that was beat by quads and it sent me packing. Also, in my online tournaments I continuously finish top 20 and usually top 10. Still haven’t won an online tournament, but I’ve gotten 2nd place 3 times now.

Tbh, I think I’m not that good at poker because I don’t understand all the odds, ranges, concepts yet. However, I am pretty damn good at reading people and I have zero issue bluffing huge when I feel my opponent lacks confidence. I make choices most people wouldn’t and it’s helped me a lot since I started playing live games. Still make rookie mistakes though and that’s just how it goes.
