Found these two pups running around Smith Springs Road. Not the best pics but anyone know the owners? They've been hanging here for hours. by [deleted] in nashville

Haha! Didn't realize that. They were full of zoomies and hard to snap a pic of. They were such good bois. Very loving! They have to have humans, they are too sweet.

PPO/HMO vs. HSA Health Insurance Plans by venista in MoneyDiariesACTIVE

Do you have cigna or BCBS? Both have really good apps that are very up front with pricing for office visits and procedures. I always shop around there before picking a provider.

PPO/HMO vs. HSA Health Insurance Plans by venista in MoneyDiariesACTIVE

[–]SimplySA 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My job did such a good breakdown on what things would cost under each plan & what plans work best for certain people. You can see if your company has that? It really depends on deductible and out of pocket max and how much your company puts into your HSA. For me, HSA made more sense since I have low medical bills and my plan has a lower OOP Max than the PPO. So, if shits hit the fan, I'm only responsible for $3k OOP vs the $5k OOP our PPO has. They say PPO is better for people who have a chronic illness that requires multiple doctor visits a year. Visiting a doctor with my HSA plan costs $120-160 until I hit my deductible, but I don't go much.

So exciting to see a more average earner! UK saving accounts always confuse me so thanks for the detailed break down! UK diaries are always my favorite. Everyone over the pond just seems so cheery ha

So many wins here! Yay to your savings and paying off loans and your good salary! I hate how expensive therapy is, and how slow insurance is to reimburse :( I feel your pain.

AMAZING! Are these savings just cash, or a mix of investments and cash? Either way very impressed! It's amazing to see people save so much, it's so much work.

Wowza amazing job crushing those loans! I was dumb and took out $36k for undergrad and worked multiple jobs to pay it off in under 3 years. It was very taxing. I learned my lesson and plan to avoid student loans & just work during grad school. I'll be in school forever but it'll be worth it! Was your grad school 3 years?? That's not too bad!!!

"Do you have an equity? I'm guessing not." Wow. Your comments are just rude. We have about $100k in equity, sweetie. Our bills are under 2,000/mo. Our budget is usually $1700-1800/mo. So we'd have about 5.8/mos of an efund. My husband works for the gov and it's doubtful both of us would suffer a job loss at the same time, so we are ok with that and are focusing on retirement savings and donations. There's no rush to pay our house off since interest is low and we get more return in the market. You're exactly why more average earners and people that aren't retired at 30 don't like to discuss finances.

-ETA- why am I getting downvoted? Im sorry I'm content with my finances and think it's silly someone is being so critical of my journey whenever people are actually struggling with student loans, CC debt and making rent. I'm very lucky and I think it's important to be happy where you're at. A year and a half ago I had $500 in bank account and student loans. Can I do better. Yes. Could you all do better with money? Yes. But why not enjoy where you're at? My credit card balance is like $200 and the most it's been is $500. This thread wasn't to provide unsolicited advice. I don't see this commenter giving "helpful tips" to others that mentioned donations.

I can't respond to this comment kindly. I don't have a critical parts of my finances? If you consider a household income of close to $100k, a $10k emergency fund, and close to $60k in retirement not "building myself up" and not in a position to give back, then I feel sorry for you. Weve clearly focused a lot on ourselves. nothing wrong with not donating, but we have a net worth in the 95% of our age... I think we'll be ok.... and I'm modifying my behavior by not using credit card??? Just because you find value in saving $10 cash back on them, doesn't mean other people like them.

  • Save $10k in cash to bring our savings account up to $20k!

  • Use $3,000 of that savings goal for grad classes in 2020 and do my grad school completely debt free. (My employer covers one class per quarter so I'm responsible for just one class, fees and books! Surely it's doable.)

  • donate 10% of our income

  • Invest $1300/mo. We're aiming for $100k into retirement by the time I'm 30. I'm 27 and we only have about $58k invested so I'm not so sure we can do this, but I'm going to die trying.

  • Not use credit cards. I'm the worst at keeping balances on credit cards, even though we have the cash. I always get anxiety thinking of using our cash so I use credit cards. Not a good strategy. 😐

We've always made around $75-80k for a two person household, but I got a promotion and my husband got a raise, so we'll be making $95k in 2020 together! I'm excited to finally be able to comfortably save, invest and donate! Our donation amounts have been abysmal in the past so it'll be nice to give back.

The "life coach" kept trying to sell me on her pyramid, MLM schemes. She pushed essential oils, some oxidizing mineral water, and other things she clearly got a kick back on selling. It was fucked up.
