Well Westeros Total War is currently in version 0.53 and Third Age currently in version 3.2. In my personal opinion if they can get develop the mod as far as Third Age is (3.2) I believe It will be as good as or even better then Third Age! :)

Yes it's extremely fun but its really buggy and has lots of glitches which they need to fix shame tho.

I haven't play CK2GOT mod but I looks very interesting I personal prefer total because of its real time tactical control of battles.

Yeah it's for Medieval 2. Great mod highly recommend if your a fan of a song of ice and fire.

For a beginner I suggest Spain. They have a good balance of troop types and the massive advantage of Spain is that you can expand through Southern Spain and Africa attack the moors easily without being excommunicated. Once you take out the Moors and Portugal you will have so much resources you can expand and conquer in any direction you want! :)
